Parody Song Title:

"No Hate in the Manger"

Parody Written by:

Royce Miller

The Lyrics

No hate in the manger, no glitter and glitz
No sightings of reindeer or jolly St. Nick
The humble all gathered, like they do today
To marvel the Saviour would rest in the hay

There's sheep and some shepherds, no windows from Saks
No little toy railroads, no sweaters and slacks
No packages shining, but stars glittered high
Cause God sent His son to give sin a black eye

Be near us, dear Jesus, this world is still sad
The humble in spirit will always be glad
We're walking the same earth that you came to trod
The poor ones in spirit are those who see God

Very appropriate message, Royce, and excellent imagery in the last two lines of the second verse.

Technically, Christmas originally celebrated the coming of the wise men and those gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. (Some place the rising of the mysterious star on December 25th.) That was almost two years away from the business with the manger, though, so the song is true enough.

Thanks for the kind comments, and Offender, I just about dropped my juice when I saw yours; thanks.

It was originally a pagan holiday, something like "Day of the Sun," but when Christians settled there, they changed the meaning of it and called it "Day of the Son".
