The Lyrics

This is my 200th parody! I contemplated doing some long and tricky OS for this jubilee but decided to go for a short and sweet tribute instead. It's therefore about the man who's early works without I wouldn't have this strange little hobby of ours; "Weird Al" Yankovic. He may no longer be as good as he once was (and I'd say that the number of people here that are his equals, or even superiors, when it comes to lyrics, has at least two digits) but he will forever be the big forerunner to us all.
Bow, Bow, Bow to Al
Hallowed be his name
Merrily, merrily, merrily,
Spoofs are never lame

Heard, heard, heard that Al
Callow was I then
Wearily, wearily, wearily
Mine were very lame

Bow, Bow, Bow to Al
He's the one to blame
Verily, verily, verily
Spoofs are now my game

Short and sweet, nice tribute to WAY. 5's My 100th parody is due out in a few days, but it's just a liiiiiiiiiiiittle bit longer than this.

Nice tribute, but shouldn't there be four repetitions of the words in the 3rd line? as in 'wearily, wearily, wearily, wearily'? That's the way i've always known this song to be sung 455

Ugh. I just woke up. Congrats on 200 submissions. As far as DAK's comment, I have heard it with 4 vs 3, but I cut you some slack as this may be another case of L.I.T. , and I would rather not have to eat "Humble Pie" again. Besides, I'm more forgiving on pacing anyway nowadays. ;-)

Nice tribute. And your introductory comments are right on the mark.

DAK: I stand corrected and will therefore replace my late night pizza with a slice of humble pie. It may sound as three "merrily" depending on how many people are singing over each other and how focused and/or in merry spirit you are, but there really should be four as far as I know, just as you are pointing out. My bad. The mistake probably originates from early on when I wrote down the original verse and used copy and paste twice before I started to write my sidenotes over the verses. Goes to prove that a final proofreading is just as important at putting extra time in on the introduction. :-)

Truer words were never spoke, we all owe Al Y. hugely for helping us release our inner nerds.
