The Lyrics

To get the right effect for this, you need a couple of friends and the phone number of a Chinese restaurant. Dial the number, and when they answer, place your order in rondo - sung as a round, with all three of you singing different verses at the same time.
Egg fried rice
Egg fried rice
King prawn foo yung
King prawn foo yung
Beef with pepper and black bean sauce
Battered round meat things (I hope it's not horse)
Did I remembember to order, of course
The egg fried rice

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Egg fried rice
Egg fried rice
Crispy won ton
Crispy won ton
Half an aromatic crispy duck
Served with pancakes and hoi sin muck
(I don't think it'd dead 'cause I just heard a "cluck")
And egg fried rice

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Egg fried rice
Egg fried rice
Spring onion
Spring onion
Szechuan chicken washed down with Champagne
Deep fried seaweed and chicken chow mein
Eat it all once, and then eat it again
With egg fried rice

And I was going to have a chinese takeaway tonight.....oh well,555 p.s. "remembember"??? Did you proof read this, young Philip?
Johnny D - May 14, 2004 - Report this comment
555, and as the proprietor of a Cantonese lunch spot at Boston's Commonwealth Pier said to me almost 20 years ago: "What? No MSG? Not even little?"

>"remembember"???
Oops... My proof-reading skills drop off post-midnight. I was sitting at my PC with a take-away menu and a grin on my face, trying to stay awake long enough to finish before going to bed. We're quite friendly with the local takeaway (my children usually do the ordering) - I wonder if we should try this?

I just double-checked my 555 vote, and it registered. ;-)

Shouldn't that be Egg Fly Lice?
Phil Alexander - May 14, 2004 - Report this comment
Well, a man named Horse, only when they try reading the order back to you. Personally, I have no problems whatsoever in telling the differenct between my "r"s and my elbow

Genuinely cute. Do you call bowling alleys and ask if they have ten-pound balls? (I do.)

where do you get these ideas?!?!?!?!?
Phil Alexander - September 26, 2004 - Report this comment
Sometimes inspiration strikes from reading a Chinese takeaway menu... sometimes I get inspiration just from breathing in ;-)

Three more fives

Love what you've done
Love what you've done
It's not so often I eat Chinese
But boy, you're great at these parodies!
It's funny, well-paced and sung with ease: worth three more fives!

:-) Thanks, Ingeborg - love the extra verse, too.

Great parody. Unfortunately, the Chinese guy took my singing associates into account and delivered three servings of everything. That dinner cost $288.40!
