Blowing in the morning, blowing leaves of dryness,
Blowing after noontime; going strong at eve.
Nature’s gorgeous harvest soon we’ll see air-leaping.
No time for rejoicing…wind brings in the leaves.

Wind brings in the leaves, wind whips at the eaves.
Man that breeze is noisome, bringing in the leaves!
Wind whips drifting leaves; window’s hit by leaves.
No time for rejoicing; wind brings in the grief.

Going was my fun time, going was my darling.
Here she was, then out. I wish she didn’t leave.
Now joy I can’t harness; days seem never ended.
I feel as if poisoned, sitting here to grieve.

I resort to weeping, knowing I can’t catch her.
Her loss ain’t my gain; I miss her…sad and peeved.
When this season’s over, hibernation hell comes.
Autumn leaves gone, joy, too—winter I’ll still grieve.
