The Lyrics

The Lippisch DM-1 delta test glider flew up to 500 mph w/o any ramjet installed. This was one of the Luftwaffe supersonic projects and was captured by the US Army intact out in the open. The US forces would not allow the Germans to mount the ramjet engine for powered flight, but instead crated it and took it back to the US under Convair. It became a windtunnel test craft and led to the XF-92 and further delta development by Dr. Lippisch who came to the US to work on Aeordynes for Collins and then Convair for deltas from the F-102 and 106 all the way up to the B-58 Hustler. He also proposed unmanned spy and armed Aerodynes long before US UAVs and UCAVs as well as a huge wingless Intercontinental Aerodyne Bomber- the Dynofortress. And before the Soviets had WIGs, Lippisch also designed and built them too!!!
Captured, intact, DM-1
Where was your ramjet engine?
As a glider you did fly,
A strange delta in the sky.
Captured, intact, DM-1
Where was your ramjet engine?

When the war was finally won,
There was still work to be done,
Delta craft was a strange sight,
Captured, intact, in daylight
Captured, intact, DM-1
Where was your ramjet engine?

Crated, then sent overseas
Test craft, Convair was so pleased
Basis for the 92
Then that was the end of you
Captured, intact, DM-1
Where was your ramjet engine?

Captured, intact, DM-1
Where was your ramjet engine?

[Never installed]
