The Lyrics

On Labor Day, the US President, speaking before a labor union crowd, proposed another "jobs" bill that would be "fully paid for." The funds would come from revoking billion of "tax breaks" for oil and gas producers. Here we go again.
Fool's ways, fool's ways,
Sheer bold top-down rule days.
Railways and runways and roads of brick,
Bought by new taxes on oil, how slick!
Skewer the sheen on Mexico's
Gulf; get the cash, "fair share" oil's dough.
And he wrote, "Ain't it great? I govern! O."
Then passed on the cup to our kids.

What do you have against creating jobs? What do you have against showing respect for labor on Labor Day?

Don't you know, conservatives only support spending tax money on huge mega corporations. Tax breaks for the top 1% are awesome, tax breaks on the small business owners the Republicans claim as part of their base are outta luck.

Barry - Straight and to the point! This old song is one that few of us remember. For the critics, I'll at least grant them respect for signing their names rather than anonymous one bombing. Michael and I often disagree, but he is no assassin. Be prepared...I'm going political tomorrow (Wednesday)...lol. ;D

Jobs for union construction workers. But, who else knows how to build roads? When will liberals ever recognize that corporations do not pay taxes, their customers do. We just keep piling debt upon the unborn generations of China, most of whom will be aborted under the one-child-only policy. Do the math.

Guess gasoline will go up to seven or eight dollars a gallon....

@ dude: See this writer's parody, "California!", in which it's documented that the top 3% of income-bracket taxpayers (more than 200k/yr) pay *60%* of the State's income tax.

But hey, as noted there, don't let the facts get in the way of your opinions.....

@ Michael Pacholek: Nobody has anything against *creating* jobs, AFAIK. It's just that Government cannot *create* anything. They can only steal money from some people at gunpoint (try not paying your taxes) and give it to others, a zero-sum game whose distortions actually add up to a net loss for the economy.

As far as honoring Labor, OK, but why isn't there an Entrepreneur Day to honor those who took the risks and invested their time, energy, and capital to CREATE those jobs for Labor?

Wow, I did not expect so much controversy. But one who "runs it up the flagpole" should.
It seemed paradoxical that a so-called Green advocate would facilitate fuel consuming transportation modes and then punish fuel producers ergo consumers.
Patrick: Right on, it's union jobs and votes.
TT: Add jet fuel, diesel, natural gas & asphalt plus fuels used in construction work.
