Parody Song Title:

"Beautiful Steamer"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Beautiful Steamer, wakes wide and free
The rich and the famous have just boarded thee
Beautiful Steamer, Queen of your day
This maiden voyage from Southampton Bay

Beautiful Steamer, lavish and long
Four giant funnels curl smoke on the sea
Claims of unsink-a-ble will prove wrong
Beautiful Steamer, a sad destiny

Beautiful Steamer, a sad destiny

Beautiful Steamer, world's largest boat
Slicing the whitecaps, a legend afloat
Loud blasts of air horns cut misty fog
Prelude to panicky entries of log..

Beautiful Steamer, soon to be news
Striking an iceberg far out in the sea
Many lives lost, on the first fateful cruise
Beautiful Steamer, a sad destiny..

Beautiful Steamer, a sad destiny..

A Titanic parody from an unsinkable author.

At first, I thought this parody was going to be about a perverse sexual act which contains the word "steamer" in its name, but it was about the Titanic. Great job making a classic lullaby into a ballad about one of the most famous ships of all time, and 5s to you.

Farce - Nice write about a huge tragedy in 1912. A note of interest. When I was a kid my next door neighbor a native Austrian named Pete Persich was a merchant marine who could speak about seven languages. He was married to an Italian born woman named Mary.

In April of 1912 Pete was at sea, a crew member of the ship Carpathia. The Carpathia was the rescue ship for the Titanic. Pete described to me the entire scene. He told me in terms relating to the geographic area in which we lived as to how huge that berg was. I assure you it was immense and he only saw one tenth of it. So I got an eyewitness accounting of the rescue and recovery mission first hand.

5 ice cubes for your writing labor, sir.

The Titanic was at least 555 feet long.

Sir, this is a verrry poetic verse ! My AustroG-Parents had a painting of the Titantic in which folks were partying, while calling out, " See you in New York." . . . So, My Dad, ~JJ~ always had a mental hang-Up for anything about the ~Big T ~

15 "White Stars" for you "Lines"! Nobody ever remembers lucky sister ships like the Olympic or the Mauritania. ;D

Good one. I wonder if the makers really believed it was unsinkable - how can anything made of metal and wood be unsinkable?

Ode to a maiden voyage...and to The Titanic! Loved how you captured the drama in this parody! I echo Lade Tide's and everyone's comment! Take some Unsinkable 555's!

Thanks to all for V&C...To Andy:.. from what I researched..the builders and owners never actually, stated the ship was totally unsinkable..they claimed something like, "Practically unsinkable " and of course, the rumor route took cafe of the rest..
