The Lyrics

There are many versions of this OS (the first ten links on google all came up with slightly different lyrics), but they all have the same two-part format: in each verse, the first four lines are sung by two people in turn, and the last two sung together (in harmony, if you're up to it)

But it seems that somebody has tested the theory of nailing jelly to the wall
The silliest job (the silliest job)
I can recall (I can recall)
Was nailing jel- (was nailing jel-)
-Ly to the wall (-ly to the wall)
The silliest job, silliest of all
Was nailing jelly to the wall

I tried a disc (he tried a disc)
I tried a ball (he tried a ball)
Nailing that jel- (nailing that jel-)
-Ly to the wall (-ly to the wall)
But neither disc, nor blob nor ball
Of jelly stayed nailed to the wall

I tried a mould (he tried a mould)
Seven feet tall (seven feet tall)
And could I nail (and could he nail)
That to the wall (that to the wall)
A jelly mould seven feet tall
Still kept on falling off the wall

And now and then, (and now and then)
Jelly would fall (jelly would fall)
I'd nail my fin- (he'd nail his fin-)
-gers to the wall (-gers to the wall
And now and then, jelly would fall
I'd nail the jelly to my balls

In came my wife (in came his wife)
She was appalled (she was appalled)
At jelly stains (at jelly stains)
Upon the wall (upon the wall)
In came my wife she was appalled
Stains on the stairs, all down the hall

The cat is out (the cat is out)
This tale is tall (this tale is tall)
I don't nail jel- (he don't nail jel-)
-Ly to the wall (-ly to the wall)
The lying sod, we stood in thrall
At tales of jelly nailed to walls

Very good, Jack :-)
Thanks, guys. I'd like to say that this was an impossible parody to write, but that'll just have to wait for my one about making love standing up in a hammock...
