The Lyrics

This is for you, Jeff. It carries the hopeful message of the original song. ;D

(Vocal intro - Germanic-sounding male chorus)
Jeff dropped a bomb, it broke my calm,
So now I am replying.

The voters had spoken on November Two,
And bloody Orange Boehner was House Speaker new.
Progressive people were all shaken with fears.
They called on Obama to box Boehner's ears.
'Twas the last Lame Duck sesson - Nancy'd soon go,
The last time the Dems would run the whole show.
Obama mover center - almost too late.
The Prez acted as if he'd tri-ang-u-late.

Centrist words and centrist deeds
Like Reagan and Tip,
Bringing what this country needs:
Bi-par-ti-san-ship!

John Boehner had Big O. in a bad fix
'Cause without Pelosi there'd be no more tricks.
But then it happened - it was unforseen,
John B. put away the talk that was mean.

Centrist words and centrist deeds,
Something that is wise.
For we know where all this leads:
Thoughtful com-pro-mise!

Orange Boehner stopped bashing Big O. in the press,
And gave him respect at his big yearly address.
Just for that moment the rancor did heal.
As Joe Biden might say - "It's A Big F*cking Deal"!
The two men saluted each one's humble past,
For this was a moment they knew would not last.
For deficits grow - unemployed everywhere -
And one more small thing - that is Obama Care.

Centrist words and centrist deeds,
No more talk that cuts.
On this stuff ill-feeling feeds.
Please no more wing nuts!

Centrist words and centrist deeds.
Just recall that night.
Sometimes it is fine to cede
To both left and right!

OK, so maybe I don't really espouse this point of view. But...it does make a heck of a song! ;D

Hey, quit eavesdropping on FG-TT e-mail! Who do you think you are, the FBI, or something? ;-D

Seriously, both of us posting about O-centering on the same day -- what are the odds? ;) ... But the killer line was,
"For this was a moment they knew would not last."
Yup.

555, and I can't resist a shameless plug (I tried... *really*, I tried! ;-D) of a somewhat-related theme that was posted before your welcome arrival here:

When the right gets polite, we lose. Political correctness only works when we care what the libs think of us. Your song does capture the mood of the moment. But like our freedom and our economy, it can't last.
