Parody Song Title:

"Obama vs. the Orange Boehner"

Parody Written by:

Jeff in Richmond VA

The Lyrics

After the turn of the century
In the middle of the George Bush presidency
Came a moron from Ohio like we'd never seen
Representing the GOP money machine

Up on the Hill, a man seeking fame
Burnt-Orange John Boehner was his name
Boehner cries, and Cantor lies
Now they're working together: "No compromise!"

Chorus:
Ten, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty...."no more!!"
Some good legislation just died on the floor
"Sixty votes needed to pass that bill"
Says the blubbery John Boehner on Capitol Hill

In 2009, a hero rose
Obama beat McCain; getting out the "black votes"
He won a landslide to implement change
But John Boehner shut him down--"Like hell you can!!"

(chorus)

Now, Obama had sworn that he'd get that man
So he asked Reid & Pelosi for a new battle plan
He challenged the Congress to a Health Care fight
While John Boehner was crying, they got it done right.

That blubbery John Boehner was in a fix
Obstructed everything, but he'd run out of tricks
Obama tried once, and he tried once more
And that Health Care Reform bill was signed into law

(chorus, to fade)

Curse you, Jeff VA! (LOL...I was just using Snoopy's Red Baron line.) You know my politics...but you also know my twin senses of humor and fairness. This is truly funny and well done, so I award you the "Amiright Max" (5-5-5) for valor. Be careful though on your "flights" of creativity. Boehner is a tougher "Fokker" than you might imagine. ;D

With all these political parodies, maybe I should take a "wise-crack" at one. LOL! ;-D But there is only one problem with that, I don't keep up with them, due to my distaste for political figures. So that would make it kinda hard. But you did well with this song Jeff VA, I do know TOS of this one, and like it, and I like your parody too! 5's ;-D ;-)

Good parody, based on a song about another sort of rivalry. I wish authors using a repeating chorus would simply repeat it rather than just placing (chorus) in the text. It's a lot easier to read that way.

It's the booze blubbering.

With a very good title, this had the potential to be very good. This is not bad, but there are some things that seem unclear. Speaker Boehner might be able to block some legislation that President Obama and other Democrats favor in the future, but what has he blocked so far? Until this month, the Democrats had contolled the House and the Senate for the past 4 years! And what difference does it make if it takes 60 votes to pass some bills in the Senate? Mr. Boehner is in the House, where it takes at least 218 votes.

I usually agree with Patrick, but not on the repeating chorus issues. If a parody author chooses not to vary the chorus, I only need to read the chorus once.

I try and select words that are as close as possible to the original, so you almost feel like you're singing the original song. Coming soon: "Cry Boehner" (Cry Baby parody)
