Song Parodies -> "To Mach 1"

Original Song Title:

"The Job Done"

Parody Song Title:

"To Mach 1"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

I think everyone knows the "official" history of the Bell X-1...
A bullet-shaped machine*
(B)-29 under slung
XRL-11**
Was climbing to Mach 1

T’was Yeager at the helm
“Glam Glennis”*** was the one
No throttle, chambers sequenced
Passed the mark, 41****

Now a few came before
Luftwaffe had its claims*****
Pilots of the 86******
Said more of the same thing!

[The Mach 1 “Who was First?” Game]

Was climbing to Mach 1
670 (mph) was its sum
Translated in Mach terms
Mach 1.05 quick run!
* Bell X-1 was designed from the shape of a .50 cal bullet
** XRL-11 was the 4-chamber Reaction Motors engine of the X-1 @ 6000 lb st
*** “Glamorous Glennis” was the name on the plane, same as his WW2 Mustang- his wife
**** Yeager achieved Mach 1 after passing 41,000 ft
***** The German Lippisch Lp.13b ramjet supersonic craft was completed in March 1945: US Intel file stops after construction was completed, suggesting that it was first to reach Mach 1 and then classified. Also, the Wright Field report of early 1946 on the Me-262 Page 13 states that the aircraft “was capable of Mach 1 in a shallow dive from high 37,000 ft” (a claim Hans Mutke later made flying in “Weiss 9” over Tyrol in April 1945). A Me-163 V18 Komet rocket fighter flew fastest in WW2 at 702 mph in a vertical climb that ripped off most of its tail!!! There are disappeared Komets that may have broken the sound barrier and exploded the tanks, killing their pilots
****** Two XP-86 Sabre pilots flying the prototype earlier than the X-1 claim the same thing!!! So Yeager could have been anywhere from 4-7th to break Mach 1. He remains the Official recorded Mach 1 flier from Oct 14, 1947. Soviets glided the captured German DFS-346 supersonic craft in May 1947 but did not achieve Mach 1 in it until 1951 under Siebel's pilot. Another German supersonic craft went to the US for completion but remains shrouded in mystery- the Zippermayr Pfeil
