Parody Song Title:

"An Amiright Christmas Carol"

Parody Written by:

Phil Alexander

The Lyrics

One very familiar type of song to be parodied is the Christmas carol, although it is perhaps a bit out of season at this time. However, as Tom Lehrer was informed by his disc jockey friends, of whom he has (like I have) none, in order to get a song popular by Christmas time you have to start plugging it well in advance, so here it goes.
Christmas time is here, by golly
Yuletide parodies - so jolly
If you feel a prick - it's holly
Spoof a Christmas song, or ten...
Drink the mulled wine by the barrel
Find Dickensian apparel
Parody a Christmas carol
Brother, here we go again.

On amiright you can't get sore
At Christmas songs you can't ignore
Just keep on writing more and more
There's over three hundred and sixty-four!

Mocking songs of omnipresence
Winter, ice, snow, Santa, presents
Time to pluck another pheasant
Not another one? Not 'arf
It doesn't matter how well writ it
Is, and do not try to "dis" it
Attempted humour is implicit
Come on, did it make you laugh?

John A Barry makes us pause:
Mommy shivving Santa Claus?

God rest ye Guy DiRito:
Shocking schlocking 'neath the tree

Reading stuff from Johnny D
A Hottie Naughty Christmas, he...

So...
Poke some fun at old traditions
Chuck away old inhibitions
Writing the right rites, write all night
Submit them all at am. I. right.

:-) Thanks everyone... - as a brief note, I wrote this a few weeks ago, but was waiting for the first few Christmas parodies to fill in the couplets, and the three I mentioned were either i) the ones I enjoyed most, ii) the parody authors in whose good books I wanted most to keep, iii) the ones that fitted the metre best or possibly iv) the first three I came across... I'll let you decide ;-)

I did miss this one. As you know, he's tough to do. Toms' original was a bit of a parody in the first place, and way ahead of its' time. As for me writing these, I have come to be so sick of most Xmas songs, that parodying them is something I generally avoid; there are so many here already. I have to avoid certain stores all December. I have about six original "Anti-Christmas" songs (One of which is on Soundclick right now) and someday I may have enough for an album.
