The Lyrics

Tom Lehrer said this, almost fifty years ago:

"Almost every day during the hunting season you see at least one item in the newspapers about somebody who has shot somebody else, under the impression that he was a deer with a red hat perhaps, a large flesh-colored squirrel."

Or even an orange-jacketed quail. Nice to see that Dick Cheney's keeping an old tradition alive...
I always will remember,
'twas three months after November,
I went out to hunt some quail
Should have ended up in jail
I went (without a license) and I hit, to my disgrace
"Big shot" lawyer, full of buckshot in the face

I figured that I'd try a
Round or two of "friendly fire"
As I tracked my bird around
Went to shoot him on the ground
But up there popped a fella right there in my quail's place
"Big shot" lawyer, full of buckshot in the face

The lawyer had a sure winge
'Cause he had worn orange
But still he wasn't saved by that little trick,
He thought t'would be a fun thing
Going a-cock-hunting
But then got shot in the face... by a Dick

People ask me 'bout my action
Was it merely a distraction
From some presidential sleaze?
And I say to them, puh-lease
For now I wish I had shot myself a brace
Of big, shot lawyers,
Full of buckshot
In his bloody, birdlike face

5s and extra credit for "sure winge/orange." But what's a "winge"?
Phil Alexander - February 16, 2006 - Report this comment
A "winge" is a typo, or "whinge" without the "h" ;-)

From dictionary.com: whinge (hwĭnj, wĭnj)
intr.v. Chiefly British., whinged, whing·ing, whing·es.

To complain or protest, especially in an annoying or persistent manner.

's OK, JB
Larry - now there's another idea for a Cheney-parody:
Dick Cheney is a guy
Who likes to go and hunt
But when he's had a drink, he is
An over-reckless... er.. man
...
They call him the Wounderer, the Wounderer
He goes kablam! kablam! kablam! kablam! kablam!
