"Blue Moon"

Original Performer:

The Marcels

Parody Song Title:

"Cartoons"

Parody Written by:

Guy DiRito

The Lyrics

Thee thee-a thee, thee thee-a thee thee, the thee-a the thee thee-a
that's all folks!

Cartoons, Saturday morning were shown,
They were just movable art,
The easy chair was my throne.
Cartoons, something we all had a flare for,
Sat in our favorite chair for,
And we'd just stay there and stare for.

And as we subtlety revered Bugs and Porky,
With Elmer Fudd and his shotgun so bold,
As no reruns were likely to bore me,
We were hooked on cartoons solid as gold.

Cartoons, Saturday morning were shown,
They were just movable art,
The easy chair was my throne.

Thee thee-a thee, thee thee-a thee thee, the thee-a the thee thee-a
that's all folks!

I liked the beginning and the end...'Thee thee-a thee, thee thee-a thee thee, the thee-a the thee thee-a that's all folks!' Like a monkey wrench thrown in when you least expect it. lol

Son, ah say son, that was downright funny! Especially the use of Porky Pig to replace the "Bomp-ba-ba-bomp, a-dang-a-dang-dangs." Rodgers & Hart are probably turning over in their graves, but they don't get votes here! Note to younger viewers: Rodgers & Hart is not the law firm on the WB's "Angel." They wrote "Blue Moon" and lots of other classics from the 1930s. This one was covered by the Marcels, an integrated Pittsburgh doo-wop group, in 1961. Hit Number 1, too. And Guy did a great job with it.

Thanks Mike, and I did not know all of this about this song. The fact that this song is from the 30s and the Marcels were from Pittsburgh and I grew up there.

Since two of you have now heard it, I should let everyone know, there is a musical tribute to ten of the writers here that Mari and I did yesterday. On our MP3 website, you can download by clicking on the link at the bottom of Mari’s parody “Daniel”. I will tell you who but not what songs. In order, they are Paul R.-Phil A.-Claude P.-Royce M.-Johnnie D.-Leah L.-AussieBD-Guy D.-Malcolm H.-Michael P. You have to listen to find out what we did.

I also liked the beginning and the end, but that line occurs at other parts during the original song, not just at the beginning and end. So I'm going to vote 4 for pacing. But it was really funny, I have to give you credit for that. And overall, it was really good, so my vote will be 4-5-5.

Aww, Mr. Ellipsis, it wasn't THAT off-paced. He just didn't put the "thee-a-thee" lines elsewhere. But we know how the song generally goes, do we not? I vote straight fives.
