Yuri Rossovich designed the primitive WW2 Russian partisan glider called "Taiga". This was a wood, fabric, and tough canvas type glider with a unique set-up that would allow the partisan to launch and fly in a prone position and then pull a lever that would manipulate the central fabric section of the wing to fill up with air and act like a parachute for slow descent while allowing the partisan's legs to lower with a skid for landing. On the wings would be carried tight bundles of partisan weapons. It was intended to be used for re-supply from a partisan high point to a valley below and could easily be disassembled and carried back by partisan groups in segments. It would cut re-supply time down dramatically. AFAIK, only one was made and captured by the Germans who took it back to the SS "Wiesel Werke" in Germany that tried to build an improved tubular steel and synthetic material version called the "Bone" glider (Knochengleiter???) as it was very primitive. The Germans improved the wing mechanism and prone pilot system. I think they might have even added some instrumentation! But again, AFAIK, that was never flown. I have never seen a photo of it. A very rare and interesting WW2 craft...
