Song Parodies -> "Jon Corzine"

Original Song Title:

"Auld Lang Syne"

Original Performer:

Robert Burns

Parody Song Title:

"Jon Corzine"

Parody Written by:

Michael Pacholek

The Lyrics

The original was written by Robert Burns, circa 1790. The best-known American version is by Guy Lombardo & His Orchestra, first recorded in 1929. While Guy made it a traditional New Year's Eve song, he didn't originate such playing: I found an article tracing that to January 1, 1896. As for the subject of the parody... Presenting the next Governor of the Great Garden State of New Jersey: Jon Stevens Corzine!
Should Grand Old Party be forgot?
The vote, it won't get mine!
Yes, Grand Old Party be forgot!
We'll vote for Jon Corzine!

For Jon Corzine has won, my dear!
We voted down the line!
We'll straight-vote our ticket yet!
We won with Jon Corzine!

Doug Forrester, such a loser
just like he was last time!
The Senate lost, and now he's cost
too much against Corzine!

For Corzine's Democrat, my dear!
Doug's tied to Dubya's line!
We'll take no grief from Bush the thief!
We won with Jon Corzine!

We kept Assembly, gained a seat!
And now we're feeling fine!
Tim Kaine won in Old Dominion!
He won like Jon Corzine!

Let Kansas remain unevolved!
New Jersey sings this rhyme:
We're glad we sat with Democrats!
We won with Jon Corzine!

New York, up there, Freddy Ferrer
not having a good time.
Mike Bloomberg won, but he'll have fun
dealing with our Guv, Corzine!

For Jon Corzine has won, my dear!
We voted down the line!
We'll straight-vote our ticket yet!
We won with Jon Corzine!
In case you care, Tom Menino was elected to a fourth full term as Mayor of Boston, Shirley Franklin was re-elected Mayor of Atlanta, and, as I type this (10:25 ET), the Mayor's race in Detroit is too close to call, and the Pacific Coast hadn't closed yet.

The pacing was good, it was well stated without being hateful. 5's.

Well done 5's

This has to have been a tough few years for someone with political views as clearly demarcated as yours, so I'm glad the Dems still can occasionally pull off something for you to gloat about.

I don't share Spaff's sentiments, but I am painfully aware that I might have to put up with some of Pacholek's gloating for a while.

Corzine is just another corrupt, pro-death turkey. What can you expect from Jersey's mental-midget voters?

Tough day for you wasn't it Lurker? You lost Virginia - ouch - that really has to hurt. And, your creationists in Pennsylvania were rejected from a school board - looks like people are waking up to the fantasy you fascists have tried to project. By the way, speaking of the Republican Culture of Corruption - how's Ted Stevens - isn't great how his "Bridge to Nowhere" is funded from money earmarked for New Orleans? Ah, the Republican way. By the way, your mass murdering president - Dubya - are his poll numbers reaching 40% yet?

Corzine may be a ham, but as my companion piece "Office Running" shows, it was Forrester who was the turkey. You, Lurker, are nothing but tongue.

PUH-LEEZE do not compare true, spiritually committed Christians with Pat Robertson! There IS a difference. That guy is a lunatic. God may hate a lot of what goes on in the world, but Robertson isn't His spokesperson!

I'm such a fecking moron.
