"It Is Over!"

The Lyrics

The song "Gloomy Sunday" was surrounded by a lot of folklore linking it to a rash of suicides in its native Hungary and later in the United States. The English version consists of the singer's lament for a lost lover and the contemplation of taking one's own life in order to reunite in heaven. Perhaps out of deference to the suicide rumors, the author of the English lyrics, Sam Lewis added a third verse in which the lover's death was only a dream and the pair wake up happy together. Gloomy Sunday was recorded by Billie Holiday, Paul Robeson, Ray Charles, and even Ricky Nelson, among others. I found two different Hungarian versions on the internet, one is a song of lost love, from which the well-known English lyrics derive. The other is a social statement more closely in line with "Eve of Destruction" than "Endless Sleep" or "Patches". Using the literal English translation of this Hungarian version, I have fabricated the following.
Grey autumn skies and the brown leaves are dying
Love's an illusion no longer worth trying
The air rent with screams as another bomb crashes
Springtime lies buried 'neath snowflakes and ashes
Rail 'gainst the madness, your pleading is all in vain
Men glory in slaughter, the whole world has gone insane

Love is finished

Hope has no meaning, all life is expiring
Cities are burning and bullets are flying
The soil's stained with blood, on the stream it is carried
Corpses, like rubbish, in the streets lie unburied
Is there no chance of this sad Earth's renewing?
Father, forgive us, for we know what we're doing

It is over!
Not intended to be funny, but just to see how the song could be completely different in translation.
