Parody Song Title:

"You're Not A Friend To Me"

Parody Written by:

Glynn Leaney

The Lyrics

YOU’RE NOT A FRIEND TO ME

You’re not a friend to me.
You’re not a friend to me.

I remember things you’ve done,
When I kissed your wife and you pulled a gun.
I didn’t know just how fast I could run!

Man, you’re not a friend to me
No, you’re not a friend to me.

You’re not a friend to me.
You’re not a friend to me.

I recall those early days at school;
You thought that you were something, tried to act so cool.
You took pleasure, made me look like a fool!

So you’re not a friend to me.
You’re not a friend to me.

My other friends agree,
We all think you’re weird, such a screwball.
Deep down inside you’re bound to see
That nobody will ever like you.
I know you do; you know it’s true.

You’re not a friend to me.
You’re not a friend to me.

you've got 3 5's from me!

Thank you Jonathan. You know, I sometimes wonder why people don't use the marking system correctly. Every one of my parodies is paced exactly the same as the original, but still people give them a 1. Fine if you don't think they're funny, but it does show in my mind that there are a few people out there who just don't like me!

1-votes are very, very rarely a rating, they're a small-minded, petty sort of protest: do what I do and just count the vote numbers. Last submission of mine pissed off the right-wing contingent here so much I'm fairly sure some of 'em were clearing their cookies just to re-vote 1s.. but hey - it's not often a parody gets more than 20 votes in its first 24 hours. Why shouldn't I be happy with that as a reaction?

This one's good without being scintillating - I think I'd have preferred something with a bit more of a twist at the end: maybe the implication it's a brother (or even a father/son) singing which then causes the reader to rethink how they read the first verse. If you see what I mean.

Straight 1s or 5s are meaningless scores. It's hits that count. Never worry about being liked. Enjoy being noticed. The scoring is dominated by the lazy, the stupid, and the cheaters, of which this site abounds. I know when I've written a good parody. I don't need zealous, jealous, or hail-fellow fools to change my mind by scoring without comment. I appreciate your accurate pacing. It's that discipline, with humor, that determine a parody's quality. I think your parody holds together as is. Identifying the antagonist at the end might be sudden, egregious, and gimmicky.

This voting system has been compromised for years with friendly, chummy 555s for pals and instant 111 for enemies. People hate you and your politics, doesn't matter how much time and effort you spend on your parodies. Same for pacing, humourous content, or how witty one is. I wouldn't put much stock in hits either because those can be manipulated too. A hundred hits could be ten people coming back ten times to re-rate or see the comments. AIR used to be fun, but there is such animosity now between the veterans who should know better. The buddy system is unfair and so are self-appointed artistry judges that spam the comments pages. Mr. Barry for instance is in my opinion an excellent parodist but most people don't know what the bloody hell he's talking about. Should he get an auto-555 rating due to status alone if his materials are incomprehensible to the majority? Why can Susanna V from Finland just write about sailing and get scores of 5s? And certain other individuals write constantly of war and dark themed horror fests. I've seen people applaud non-parodies about islamophobia, homophobia, and murder here. Humour has indeed died here. R.I.P. And someone please inform Mr. Pacholec that his rap routines are labourous and unfunny. He was funnier when doing political diatribes against those red chappies!

@Well Said, as has been repeatedly discussed, the Artistry competition is an on-going open parody writing competition between Amiright authors, moderated at inthe00s.com, fostering creativity and community within AIR. Anyone who would like to participate may do so. If you don't like seeing references in the Comments, tough titties. As to this parody, 533--disjointed, not much laughs. You aren't a bad writer, Glynn, keep it up!

I also think there are people who now troll every post here; giving out one-sies like they are afflicted with some sort of keyboard Tourette Syndrome
