The Lyrics

Here is the song all about the exciting fall season.
Of all the times in North Georgia that I can walk in
You had to be in this one tonight
Sippin' on a changing road
Girl, you're looking just like
My kinda orange leaf

I know I probably shouldn't
A smarter change wouldn't
But that smarter change just ain't me
'Cause I don't know who you are
But you already change the trees
And I ain't even bought you a suit
Yeah, I can tell by that wink

This is gonna change, change, change in the morning
Bound to have a leaf of a changeover coming
You, you, you or the big leaves
Wonder which one of y'all gonna change me
Give me more of both and I guess we'll see
I got a real big fallin' you're gonna be bad for me

I know I'm in for changing
'Cause I'm dizzy, seeing double
Just from looking in your into-me eyes
Heaven couldn't help me
Baby, something tells me
Sleep ain't on the menu tonight

Might be 2:30
But it's still too early
To call it, so I'll make the way change
Ride away into the sunrise
Kiss tomorrow goodbye
Hell, it might be my last
Girl, between you and the change

This is gonna change, change, change in the morning
Bound to have a leaf of a changeover coming
You, you, you or the big leaves
Wonder which one of y'all gonna change me
Give me more of both and I guess we'll see
I got a real big fallin' you're gonna be bad for me

Change, change, change in the morning
You, you, you or the changing

This is gonna hurt, hurt, hurt in the morning
This is gonna change, change, change in the morning
Bound to have a leaf of a changeover coming
You, you, you or the big leaves
Wonder which one of y'all gonna change me
Give me more of both and I guess we'll see
I got a real big fallin' you're gonna be bad
A real big fallin' you're gonna be bad for me

You're bad for me
Aw, yeah, this ain't gonna be good
Time for Fall!

OK, here's a comment since I'm on a roll. I haven't read that many of your parodies so it's not worth many cents. My vague impression is that you keep too much of originals too often. I'm okey with that occasionally, but not all the time. And if you do it to just crank out one a day to keep up (I check, and you're close to 1500 already in just 4 years, so one a day?) I'm pretty much not okey with it. TCOP and John Barry are the only ones than can do that with quality most of the time, and their subjects still doesn't often catch my interest (I do have limited time on my hands most of the time these days for a sorry ass excuse there). :-)

As for this one I was out already on the intro and first line - fall in Georgia, can't be much fun in that, and I don't know the original song, OR artist, and the line doesnät even make sense - check please!

Listening to TOS now I hear a wonderful internal rhyme in the very first line with
Of all the dives in Virginja
That I can walk inta

Maybe it's veteran grumpiness talking but I wouldn't even have started on line two had I not nailed that with a double switcharoo. Inrhymes later are tricker, some think they are mandatory, I'm okey with them passed over if a joke is good enough to be worth it, but still perferably not.

Maybe you should revisit a few of your one fifty first parodies to see if you can add another layer of word play where you didn't have the experience to change up the first time around. Or hit it with a totally new subject. I've seen some people do that with good results (and probably had real fun with themselves while discovering how much easier words came the second time around.

Another "trick" and a favorite of mine is to always try to work on at least two parodies at the same time. Word play has a tendency to spill over, when you get stuck on one you switch to the other, and later back again - it can be a real knotbreaker, also takes the pressure off to get done with "this one" before you can start with "that one". Write on the one that is most fun right now and to hell with it if it's not done in time for the next submission window.

Also, IMHO it's a good idea to have a really big project on the backburner, one that you only occasionally add lines too. I learned that from the great spaff when he told us he hade worked for at least six months on his awardwinning "88 LINES ABOUT 140 DISCONTINUED VARIETIES AT 31 FLAVORS", quite possibly the best parody to ever have been posted on this sight.

And the only reason I even dare plugg my own best such is that I worked on the backburner on that one for several YEARS, it was a total ego boost called "I can take Jean-Claude van Damme" (one can dream):
