The Lyrics

My 25th parody! I figured I'd do something special, so I wrote this tribute to my home state, Rhode Island! NOTE: I have marked down some references to certain points in Rhode Island history.
13th in a union of 50 U.S. states,
But number one in our hearts & our minds.
Created in banishment by Roger Williams (1),
Your heart is so big & your eyes are not blind.

You've made some bad decisions, but you know we still love you,
For you've been good to us like a best friend.
O Providence Plantations – may you live on forevermore,
You shall be in our hearts until the end!

You may be the smallest, but size does not matter
For you shall stay strong for many years to come!
From the Blackstone River & down to Block Island,
Your greatness echoes like the beat of a drum!

You've mad some bad decisions, but you know we still love you,
For you've been good to us like a best friend.
O Providence Plantations – may you live on forevermore,
You shall be in our hearts until the end!

Your culture & heritage will shine forever,
Because your people are so nice & caring.
The troopers have been there when we needed them most,
And they are now here because of thier daring (2).

You've mad some bad decisions, but you know we still love you,
For you've been good to us like a best friend.
O Providence Plantations – may you live on forevermore,
You shall be in our hearts until the end!
(1)-Roger Williams was a religious theologian who was banished from Massachusetts for his opinions, & founded Rhode Island in 1636.(2)-A reference to the Rhode Island State Police & its founding by the General Assembly. Also cnotains a reference to bumper stickers with the locally famous slogan "R.I. troopers, always there when you need them"

I think I was supposed to remember some of this stuff from a text book a long time ago. Thanks for the references
