*STICKS NIX HICK PIX was a headline printed in Variety, on July 17, 1935, over an article about the reaction of rural audiences to movies about rural life. It is one of the most famous headlines ever to appear in an American publication.

**Degrees Brix (symbol °Bx) is the sugar content of an aqueous solution—such as blood in this case.

555. This piece is, as expected, brilliant although a bit drawn out. Nonetheless, projecting my own domestic situation, I add a verse in response (which came out more aggressive than initially intended)......... Piteous parody-schlock, John's spouse thinks wrecks their walks; "No spoofs next time - Risk toxic Lyme - Tick-leery, wearisome crock!"
