Parody Song Title:

"Cisterns, Cisterns"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Cisterns, cisterns,
Every toilet has to have a cistern
Johns aren't built without 'em,
Never done, no, sir,
It there wasn't one, you'd wish there were

Gushing, rushing,
Storage of cold water
That's for flushing
When ladies or gentlemen
Pow-der or comb,
Comes into play with handle, chrome

Part of the plumbing
Not unbecoming,
White porcelain in back..
Always a tank full
For it we're thankful
Replaces old outdoor shack..(uh-huh)

We've all seen it,
Just prob'lly never heard the term.. to mean it
A very neccesary good invention of a man
God bless the cistern,
For anyone whoever took a piss turn,
And God bless the cistern
For flushing the waste from our can

Part of the plumbing
Not unbecoming,
White porcelain in back..
Always a tank full
For it we're thankful
Replaces that outdoor shack..(uh-huh)

We've all seen it,
Just prob'lly never knew this term to mean it
One very necessary great invention by a man..
God bless the cistern,
For anyone whoever took a piss turn,
And God bless the cistern,
For flushing the waste from our can

It is a creative mind indeed that can be inspired toward song by indoor plumbing. I'll admit, though, it has given pause to think of it with a bit more respect and gratitude! ;)

After I finish using it, it's my Sis' turn .... Wondered where ya been, and a bit worried -- nice ta see ya back! .. yes, T. Crapper really did make the plumbing "breakthrough".

@ FG: Just remember when you used to use the outhouse, two or three years ago .... How quickly we forget!

Very creative and well placed substitutions throughout, but are you sure the original was sung by Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell?

Thanks, all...and John...You're right about who sang it...done more research...it's actually from the classic seasonal flick, "White Christmas"...performed by Rosemary Clooney and Rosemary Clooney...because she dubbed Vera Ellen's singing voice in the movie, and sang her own part, too....

Little known fact: Most cisterns are designed to hold 555 ounces of water. ;-) (Oh, sec. code is VVG = very, very good)
