The Lyrics

The State of our Union is limbo!
Mine eyes have seen that Georgie is a man out of his gourd.
He is sending out his minions with their crates of crap on board.
He has loosed the fateful lightning of the deficit's swift sword.
The truth is long, long gone.

Georgie, Georgie, tell him, "Boo-ya!"
Georgie, Georgie, tell him, "Boo-ya!"
Georgie, Georgie, tell him, "Boo-ya!"
The truth is long, long gone.

He taxes on the many to enrich the privileged few.
He has said his rich man's tax cut would benefit me and you.
It's just one of many things he's said that's way too far from true.
The truth is long, long gone.

Georgie, Georgie, tell him, "Boo-ya!"
Georgie, Georgie, tell him, "Boo-ya!"
Georgie, Georgie, tell him, "Boo-ya!"
The truth is long, long gone.

He has told us our security was threatened by Iraq.
Weapons of the mass destruction, that's why we were on attack.
But they ain't been found and five hundred men aren't coming back.
The truth is long, long gone.

Georgie, Georgie, tell him, "Boo-ya!"
Georgie, Georgie, tell him, "Boo-ya!"
Georgie, Georgie, tell him, "Boo-ya!"
The truth is long, long gone.

When he ran he said, "Compassionate conservtive's my tune!"
Since the Court installed him, he's been acting like a right-wing goon.
With the policies he's pushing, he's already on the Moon!
The truth is long, long gone.

Georgie, Georgie, tell him, "Boo-ya!"
Georgie, Georgie, tell him, "Boo-ya!"
Georgie, Georgie, tell him, "Boo-ya!"
The truth is long, long gone.

George Washington would tell him, "You've deceived the U.S.A.!"
Ronald Reagan would say, "Well, that's not the conservative way."
And Abe Lincoln would suggest to him, "Hey, George, go see a play!"
The truth is long, long gone.

Georgie, Georgie, tell him, "Boo-ya!"
Georgie, Georgie, tell him, "Boo-ya!"
Georgie, Georgie, tell him, "Boo-ya!"
The truth is long, long gone.

One year to go. January 20, 2005: Honor and integrity restored to the White House!

Michael, this makes me want to write a similar one, only about the democrat candidates--
Phil Alexander - January 21, 2004 - Report this comment
Some nice lines.. expecially the Abe Lincoln one.
Md Patriot - January 21, 2004 - Report this comment
This parody although well paced is full of inaccuracies. My BS meter is pegged al the way to the RIGHT on this one.
Laurence Dunne - January 21, 2004 - Report this comment
Hmmm... I disagree strongly with Md Patriot. The deficit (budget + trade) is $1,000,000,000,000 per year now, and growing. This amounts to $3,500 for every man, woman and child in the country. In other words, that is the amount by which the government forces us to live beyond our means (this is on top of any beyond-our-means living we might engage in personally). We are selling America to foreigners, one stock and bond at a time. Also, the WMD issue shows the ignorance of this admin. The simple truth seems to be: The UN was right, Bush was wrong. Though Saddam may have had WMD programs in the past, they were certainly inactive by the turn of the century. As for the tax cut issue, there is almost unanimous agreement from economists on this one: Tax cuts for the rich do not stimulate the economy. Government spending is a much cheaper and more effective way to stimulate the economy, as governments and economists all over the world agree. If you're going to give a tax cut, the poor are more likely to spend the money than are the rich.
Laurence Dunne - January 21, 2004 - Report this comment
Oh, and if anyone responds saying 'well then why is the economy growing?' The answer is simple: Low interest rates have fuelled consumer borrowing. We are getting deeper into debt for short term economic relief. Bush's tax cuts helped, but he could have gotten the same bang for far, far, far less buck with appropriate spending.
David Chrenko - January 21, 2004 - Report this comment
Michael, see what I don't understand, is why the left hates President Bush with the venom that it does (ludicrous comparisons to Hitler, etc.). As a conservative from the Reagan camp, George W in many of his domestic policies (ie his solution to the illegal immigration problem, the expensive programs he's been touting) is to liberal for my tastes. Thirty years ago, he may well have have been a conservative Democrat. As far as Irq policy goes, I don't want to trust my country's safety to the United Nations. When it comes to our national security, the buck has to stop with us. Oh by the way, in spite of what I see as some inacuracies in your parody's political statements, it's funny stuff and paces reasonably well.
Tim Hall - January 21, 2004 - Report this comment
What would Nixon have said to Georgie? Good job.
Meriadoc - January 21, 2004 - Report this comment
Ah Michael, you are truly the honorary Tong-Lite of Amiright. But at least yours are funny. I had a chuckle at the Lincoln line, and the pacing was flawless...
dude - January 21, 2004 - Report this comment
Why does the left hate Bush? 2.3 million jobs lost during his presidency. The improving economy may have begun to turn that around, but the climb is slow: Businesses added just 1,000 new jobs last month, and the drop in unemployment to 5.7 percent was attributed to frustrated workers — almost 310,000 — who left the labor force.

As Jon Stewart pointed out, that's just 20 jobs per state. But I guess that's an improvement compared to the rest of last year. Let's see what January brings now that the Christmas shopping frenzy is over.
David Chrenko - January 21, 2004 - Report this comment
dude - I serious question the figures you've used, ie: the number of "frustrated workers" leaving the job market is severely overinflated - if by last month you mean December, you'll find a large percentage of those were seasonal jobs, and do you really believe only 20 jobs were created per state. dude, just consider how ridiculous that is - my own town created more than that. Don't know how old you are, but during the (Democrat) Jimmy Carter years interest rates were in the 20% range, we were waiting an hour in line every other day to buy gasoline, and the economy at that time would have had you begging for the one we have now. And I won't even address the degree of international terrorism that existed under Carter. I left "The Left" because of Carter. But, in spite of it all, conservatives didn't hate him. All the over-the-top anger and fear in the hierarchy of the Democratic party hinges on one thing - the fear of conservative, non-activist judges reversing Rowe Vs. Wade. And the constituency is just slurping up all their propaganda.
Super Patriot - January 21, 2004 - Report this comment
I'm tired of your witty leftist ways! Your parodies are seemless and humorous. I'm tired of leftist rapier parodies! My tastes lean more towards the broad sword that is the angry conservative parody. Talking about blowin' stuff up, stupid Democrats, kicking the ass of small countries, that asshole Clinton, and being right all the time. We need more parodies of that caliber! None of this love your neighbor bullcrap!
Proteus - January 21, 2004 - Report this comment
Again, a personal, political agenda get viewers, but still, this is not even remotely funny. a 2, a 2, a 2! (and that's being generous) "Boo-ya!"
John Jenkins - January 21, 2004 - Report this comment
I agree with Meriadoc, except that maybe Will Tong is Pacholek-lite because he refuses to accept comments on his controversial parodies. So I commend MP for his allowing comments on his parodies and engaging in a very lively discussion of the issues. I also join with Meriadoc in finding humor in the Lincoln line - it's in bad taste, but we thought it was funny when applied to Hillary Clinton, so we can't say it's not funny when applied to GWB. Also, the moon line was pretty good, too.

On the other hand, there are many lines in MP's parody that I take issue with, such as the tax cut line. The tax cut was across the board - it does benefit everyone - except those who don't pay taxes. So, if it's not benefiting you, MP, then you are not paying taxes.

I also take issue with Laurence Dunne's comment about government spending being endorsed by governments and economists. People in government might endorse government spending, but economists clearly do not. They advocate private sector spending as the best way to stimulate the economy.
Phil Alexander - January 22, 2004 - Report this comment
Ah, JJ - but you know what they say about economists: if you lined up all the economists in the world, they still wouldn't reach a conclusion.. Spending, ideally by people with money rather than borrowing, is the best way to stimulate the economy: who actually does that spending is what economic debate is all about. Me, I'm not really sure whether governments ever do anything much to help... but they can certainly screw things up if they get it wrong.
dude - January 22, 2004 - Report this comment
David Chrenko: that was a quote straight from MSNBC. you can argue with them about the government reported numbers. since it was December, most of the seasonal jobs would end AFTER Christmas, not before it.

ChuckyG - Thanks for NOT printing my comments on this last night. I was too angry and you did the right thing. My apologies. I must admit "W" currently makes me see red and although I stand by my point of view I need to be nicer in the way I present it. I'm going to try and avoid heavy political comments for a bit, puts my head in a bad place anyway. Don't like to be there.
Michael Pacholek - January 22, 2004 - Report this comment
Royce: Write anything you want about Dean and Lieberman, they're history. Clark just isn't funny, and we don't know enough about Edwards to know how he would make us laugh. Kerry's almost Gore-stiff, but, like Gore, he's going to beat Bush. Phil: Regrettably, the Lincoln joke has probably been around since Johnson. Andrew. Md: Aside possibly from my pacing, there are no inaccuracies here, which means Bush couldn't have written it. Super Patriot: It's "seamless!" Learn how to spell before you criticize your liberal intellectual superiors! John: Thank you... I think... Paul: Having not seen your comments, I'm wondering if you and Howitzer Dean are on the same medication! David: I appreciate your objectivity toward the song, and a thoughtful response, even though I disagree with the thoughts. Liberals don't hate Bush, only his filthy, extreme policies. But the right-wingers, the ones complaining about all this "hate," truly, deeply hate us, the Clintons, all Kennedys and in-laws except MAYBE Ah-nold, and anything good the federal government's ever done. And if you think Bush is too liberal for you, what on Earth do you call a centrist? Conservatives didn't hate Carter? You must be the only "conservative" who doesn't listen to Drug Rush, 'cause he and his callers still hate Mr. Nobel Peace Prize, mostly for taxes. For "conservatives," it always gets back to taxes. And "conservative" judges are just as "activist" as "liberal" ones. All I can say about that is, neither people who have read the Constitution nor Pat Robertson's prayer teams have yet gotten their wishes: No retirements on the Supreme Court in Gore's term, so Georgie hasn't been able to replace any. Of course, there's still a year to go. God only knows what can happen, and, contrary to Georgie's belief, He isn't telling anyone, certainly not Georgie.

Michael, I went on quite awhile and while I believe I was right I was way too nasty about it so that's why I was glad CG didn't put it up. Let me just cut and paste a little from your above remarks that I touched on, albeit in a somewhat more pointed way: (I won't mention who I'm talking about, even that gets me worked up these days) "his filthy, extreme policies". Beyond that, I abhor the constant misrepresentation and lying, the cynicism, the extreme "my-way or the highway" partisanship, the vicious slandering of those holding opposing viewpoints, up to and including veiled threats at family (the CIA agent incident, for example). Finally, those who disagree with Lawrence and "dude's" facts should reference THEIR sources or prove the equations they used to be incorrect. Let's leave it there before I break my resolution to be "kinder and gentler" in less that 12 hours. Thanks all...PEACE...

MP - Since you asked...GW's domestic agenda doesn't come from the Reagan camp of the Republican party. Although I now vote Republican, it's just as much a vote against various causes close to the hearts of Democrats. I view the Democratic party as sort of the Big White Massa in Washington, trying to keep us all down on their plantation by making us dependent on their programs. GW, as well, seems determined to implement a number of expensive programs that will deepen our debt. On the up side, he seems to be a man of his convictions (so is Democrat, Joe Lieberman), and I respect that.
