The Lyrics

On April twentieth there was a little crack
In a Halliburton Oil Rig that was not built in Iraq
It killed eleven people and injured many more
And we blame the bloody British for the oil upon our shore

They used robots and the gusher kept a comin'
A lot more oil than there was a while ago
They tried six times and it just kept a-runnin'
Toward the ruination of the Gulf of Mexico

When we looked at the video we seed the gusher blow
A gallon every second or perhaps a little mo’
It went to the surface and floated toward the beach
We sat there in our swimmin’ trunks, the oil within our reach

They used “Top Hat” and the gusher kept a comin'
A lot more oil than there was a while ago
They tried six times and it just kept a-runnin'
Toward the ruination of the Gulf of Mexico

Old Hayward said that it wasn’t his mistake
That Halliburton told ‘em it was stronger than a quake
It chaps my hide when the greedy bastards play
With our beaches and our marshes, and our wildlife in this way

They used “Top Kill” and the gusher kept a comin'
A lot more oil than there was a while ago
They tried six times and it just kept a-runnin'
Toward the ruination of the Gulf of Mexico

Well they blamed Halliburton and they blamed Transocean
And they blamed Barack Obama (well, for everything, you know)
They blamed some voodoo man who might’a mixed a potion
For the ruination of the Gulf of Mexico

It’s hard to laugh when the ocean’s full-a goo
Because these evil scumbags treat our water like a loo
If water’s unimportant and their love of oil is first
Give ‘em all the oil they want to have and let ‘em die of thirst

All that talk and the gusher kept a comin'
A lot more oil than there was a while ago
They tried a buncha times and it just kept a-runnin'
Toward the ruination of the Gulf of Mexico

Well they blamed Halliburton and they blamed Transocean
And they blamed Barack Obama (well, for everything, you know)
They blamed some voodoo man who might’a mixed a potion
For the ruination of the Gulf of Mexico

Best parody yet, on the sad saga in the Gulf, or on any theme, that I've seen here in quite some time. ...paces, and sings as smooth as the original, if not smoother...a terrific all around job of parody writing...we need more parodies of this caliber on this site...Keep submitting, Lee...

I ditto AFW's comments. Your use of "seed" gave just the right local 1812 touch. But you forgot those who blame Dubya! The penultimate line could be "They blamed George W. who didn't have a notion" to avoid a repeat. 555 if "Transocean" is 4 syllables.

I agree totally with the first two commenters on this parody. Well done. As for me, I blame that voodoo dude. I think this one tops Spaff's spoof of a few weeks ago and that is saying something. The parody fits over the OS like a well fit glove. It is just such an obvious choice for a parody on BP. So is this now the third war we fight with mother England?

Barry - Thank you for writing this. Honestly I had no idea that by 1814 hostilities had ended but man was it surely fun shooting those Brits in their asses. Serves 'em right for what their company did to the Gulf.
