"Amazing Face"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Amazing face on every child
And on the teachers, too
Hurts heart and mind
Each day to find
That this nightmare is true..

All with great smiles
In photographs
So young and innocent
How could someone
Snuff out their lives,
So wrong and evil bent..

Teachers have shown much bravery
Moved to protect their class
They locked the doors
In closets, hid
Each precious lad and lass..

Who knows the reason God allowed
Such pain that will not mend
Was it a sacrifice to show
The world, this has to end

So many others in the news
Unheeded, recent years
Perhaps, a sign,
The harshest kind
To wake the world with tears..

Let's pray our leaders change the laws
To stop more tragedy
So they shall not have died in vain,
Honored in memory

There have been laws against murder for centuries. If the establishment took mass murder seriously, James Holmes and Nidal Hasan would not be breathing at this moment. Nor the unknown gunmen who slaughter a similar number of less photogenic victims every weekend in Chicago. If these hypocrites really cared about children they would not be turning little Afghan, Iraqi, Pakistani, Yemeni, Palestinian, and soon, Iranian, children into "collateral damage". Obama, Pelosi, and Reid are not going to order their bodyguards to turn in their high-capacity, rapid-fire weapons for flintlock muskets and swords. Until they do, they have no standing to speak of anyone else's firearms. This country is long overdue for a moral revival, and I can not think of any body less qualified to lead it that the depraved filth that have usurped the leadership of this once great nation.

I believe it's a time for less oratory, and more sorry...I didn't write this on a soap box, and it would be nice if commentary followed suit..

We all sympathize with the loss of any innocent life. The solutions proposed by the Washington gang will do nothing to stop such an event from occurring again. They sponsor the remote control killing of children in foreign lands, every day. They surround themselves with security layers we pay for, but cannot afford. This issue goes far beyond regulations on the mechanical or cosmetic features of firearms, enforced by armed men. I would like to see moral consistency on the part of real leaders, not just posturing by hypocrites bent primarily on inconveniencing a segment of the electorate that didn't vote for them. And that's all they're talking. I didn't kill those children. My guns did not kill them. A mentally disturbed individual did. How do we stop someone like that, without compromising or surrendering our freedoms?

We all have our opinions...I prefer to insert my stand and feelings into the parody, itself..and don't care to get into, or believe in, a lot of commentary bickering at a parody website...I'm not running for any office, or have any axe to grind...What we think, say, or debate is not about to affect, or change anything, anyway...I'll leave it to the lawmakers and hope for some new ideas, or any new plan that can save lives..

AFW, great write, so 555! YES, it IS a tragedy but the firearms debate is the wrong angle. Guns don't kill people, people kill people. And all of these psychos needed medical help. To blame the gun or access to guns is crazy. If you ban auto pistols and military STYLE single-shot weapons there still will be hunting rifles of high caliber (.300, .30-06, .308, and .338) as well as high-powered wheel guns (.357-.50 cal) AND shotguns... which the NRA will tell you are all part of America's past. I don't agree that all types of weapons should be accessible to the public, but ultimately people make decisions to kill one way or another. Alcohol kills more people than guns and no one will ban that, nor tobacco, nor even cars. Picking on a single-fire version of an assault rifle and auto-pistols of 9mm-.45 cal isn't gonna put a dent in mass-murder nor serial killings. Even mental health checks would not deter most killers who don't have a criminal record nor have seen a psychiatrist. The world is a high-pressure place and people cope in certain ways. but some can't cope and that turns to anger and violence in many forms. I mourn the innocent killed but won't blame the mother for owning firearms and training her son to use them. Some people love guns and others don't. If you take away guns the only ones with guns will be criminals and that isn't American no matter what. Guns have also saved many people's lives, so if Anti-Gun would you have liked to see one group of people saved and another group sacrificed? I say that existing laws need to be enforced rigidly... but even in tough California, I can buy a M-16 clone at local Big 5 in .223 for around $700+. Guns are everywhere. No President nor any lobby group is ever going to get rid of them. Period. ~from a gun owner, shooter, and collector's POV...

It is difficult to separate this atrocity from politics. Politicians were quick to respond with political proposals that may or may not have anything to do with what happened, but are taking advantage of an opportunity to advance an agenda they have been pushing for decades. Those on the other side have their own programmed response. The real solution is not political, nor mechanical. And, I'm afraid this country is too far gone to be saved. When you write a parody on AIR, you are stepping up on a soapbox. Perhaps the law that should be changed is the one that prevented the brave teachers from having an effective tool to stop the shooter. I saw the profile of that lady who stood between her students and the killer. People like that are irreplaceable. I don't know what her politics were nor her views on guns. But at that moment, a weapon in her hand might have changed the outcome. She and her students deserved that choice. And, actually, as I look back on your lyrics, I realize you only called for a change in the laws, not a specific change. So I can't really argue against your position. Only that you grieve for the loss of innocent life. And I'm definitely with you in that regard.
