The Lyrics

OK, this is OMR's first parody from 1982. I was inspired by Frank Gallup's "When You're In Love The Whole World Is Jewish". First, notice how many people I refer to now are dead. Second, you amiright experts will know how I jammed words to fit the tune. This is the first attempt of a parodist...did you do so well on your initial efffort...and did you sing it to applause for eight years? ;D

Sammy Davis Jr.'s Irish, also Billie Graham
And Frank Sinatra too.
Menachem Begin has a shamrock stitched to his yarmulck
He's now an Irish Jew.
The Reds are now green and Marge Schott is bubblin'
Tony Perez says he was born in Dublin!
Nadia Comaneci is now an Irish lass it's true
The whole world's Irish since I fell in love with you.

Ricardo Montalban is Irish on Fantasic Isle
And so is small Tatoo (De plane, boss!)
The U.K. Wildcats changed their colors for St. Patrick's Day
To kelly green from blue.
Muhammed Ali's Irish, so's Dean Martin,
Sophia Loren and Cher and Dolly Parton.
French chef Julia Child is cooking up an Irish stew.
The whole world's Irish since I fell in love with you.
Zelda Schwartz
The whole world's Irish since I fell in love with you.

OK, one bomber. Rip me and I know you are an Orangeman! ;D

Well, I think this is quite good even if the pacing is a little off. Sometimes you have to break rules. My first effort is a parody to Lili Marlene. Look it up in Index by Decade under miscellanious - L.

Gotta love an "Irish" song during St. paddy's week.

Actually, yes, I think my first parody, at around age 10, scanned perfectly - must be genetic. (It's posted here; no plug). DKTOS, so I "don't" know about the word jamming. OTOH, I didn't sing it to applause for eight years, esp. being only ten, plus my "singing" would have people running for the exits.

Given the lack of knowledge, abstaining. Yes, I could look it up, but by your own admission, I'd have to vote you down -- and how would that look on a day where we sang your praises to the roof? :-D

DKTOS but good write. I always like St. Patrick's Day, even though I'm British.

It's nice to hear that you wrote this parody in 1982! When I written/performed my first parody, I was in kindergarten. The first OS I used to parody was "I've Been Working On The Railroad", about my brother building and playing with toys. At the time, pacing didn't matter to me, so I paced it my own way, which was way off from that OS. So I didn't do well on my first effort, but I was a kid that time. But good job with this parody!

Thanks and maybe I should clarify. This was the first parody I did in public consistently as a pro musician. Now I walk with giants, turtles, beavers, and sheep! Phil...I'm English (at least on my paternal grandpa's side...like most greater Cincinnatians I'm 75% Teutonic). Are you any kin to Horatio? ;D
