The Lyrics

I'm having fun with G&S, and plugging our recording of same; "Media Celebrity". This one is lots of fun in the operetta.
HUSBAND:
When my wife goes in the bath
Tarantula! Tarantula!
There's one thing that spurs her wrath
Tarantula!
And if screams I wish to dodge
Tarantula! Tarantula!
I must hide in the garage
Tarantula!
For when threatened by that pest
Tarantula! Tarantula!
She's in no mood for a jest
Tarantula!
There is nothing more she'll dread
Than a spider in the head
Than a spider in the head...
Tarantula! Tarantula! Etc.....

WIFE:
Go you he-man, kill the big bug
It's what husbands are for you big lug
I will give you such a big hug
Go and spider-kill for me!
Take some Raid and take a swatter
For your dear wife and your daughter
Call me when you need a blotter
Go you husband, or I'll cry....

WOMEN:
Go big Daddy or we'll cry, go big Daddy or we'll cry

HUSBAND:
I just saw the creature's size
Tarantula! Tarantula!
And I can't believe my eyes
Tarantula!
It's as big as our tomcat
Tarantula! Tarantula!
What am I to do with that?
Tarantula!
I think this is too complex
I am calling Terminex
Tarantula! Tarantula! Tarantula!
And to me it's evident
Need a bat to make a dent
Tarantula! Tarantula! Tarantula!

DAUGHTER:
Get it, Daddy and I'll kiss you
If you fail I guess I'll miss you
If you don't, we'll boo and hiss you
Go, and prove you are a man!

WOMEN:
For that bug is big and hairy
It's out of the ordinary
And we think it's awful scary
So please flush it down the can

HUSBAND:
Little ladies hold your breath
I am not afraid of death
But it would be suicide
Just to go in there for pride

So I think it would be wise
Call exterminator guys
Let them go in with the hose
After all they are the pros

WOMEN:
Yes, it's just our lousy luck
That you're such a buck-buck-buck
Lousy luck! You're a cluck! Lousy luck
Ah yes, buck-buck!

(If you know the original, they sing the Hubby and Wifey parts together, then out)

(And he never does kill the lousy bug)

Excellent. Captures the feel of the original false machismo of the policemen and the inadvertantly (though not in THIS case - lol) callous "encouragement" of the ladies. It is my duty to give this 555 - and I am a slave to duty!
