Parody by Scathe

"The Jokesters That Roam AmIRight"

VILLAGERS
The jokesters that roam AmIRight,
Ha ha,
Bring promise of laughter that rhymes.
As we are laughing until we cry,
Ha ha,
We enjoy their spoofs ev'ry night,
Ha ha,
Of quirky celebrity times,
Of some blundering sublime.
This is what we see when we visit this site,
The whimsical jokesters that roam AmIRight.
Ha ha ha ha ha,
Ha ha ha ha ha,
The jokesters that roam AmIRight.
Ha ha ha ha ha,
Ha ha ha ha ha,
Ha ha ha ha ha ha!

SCATHE (and backing parodists)
We're jokesters that roam AmIRight,
Ha ha,
There's nothing that we cannot spoof.
We all change the songs just right,
Ha ha,
The humor is heavy or light,
Ha ha,
There's no song is too sacred to spoof,
We want all your laughs to raise roofs;
And that's why we all rearrange when we right,
'Cause we are the jokesters that roam AmIRight.
Ha ha ha ha ha,
Ha ha ha ha ha,
'Cause we are the jokesters that roam AmIRight
Ha ha ha ha ha,
Ha ha ha ha ha,
Ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Phenomenal, brilliant, unbelievable! Not only are the songs first-rate (5s all), but the story tying them all together is a masterpiece. Congrats to all involved; I'm proud to have played a small role in this superb project.

thanks JAB and alvin

Note to readers: the full opera is laid out in order of parts if you go to...

1. The Parody Authors Index, and go down to the author "Pirates Who Penstanzas - an AmIRight Opera" who has 20 entries - each one a part, in alphabetical order, or

2. the Message Board at "Pirates Who Penstanzas"

The first hurdle I almost fell at was when I had all 20 submissions in front of me, and had to work out an order to put them in. The next crisis was coming up with a storyline that would link them all, which was like trying to stuff 20 reluctant snakes up a drainpipe

but having done those two things, I then got to write the dialogue and that was a huge blast - fun the whole way

I hope you all enjoy it :-)

also, big thanks of course to ALL the contributors, but EXTRA BIG THANKS to

JOHNNY D !!!!!

who not only penned 5 perfect pieces, but made the first submission, which introduced the Orc-like Lewd Submitters and kick-started the plot, and then came up with the critical battle-scene by which the Lewd Submitters were cunningly licked (as he might put it) :-)

Part 1 is excellent Scathe and Stu. Got the MIDI to play (they work better when not muted, DOH!) and read the lyrics. Good storyline already and will get to the other 19 tomorrow night. 555.

I hadn't previously heard the back story.... Am presuming a major backlash against lewd lyricists, to be forever and anon clamped down upon? ... But to my main thrust now , these 20 perfect parodies are fantastic and true to their originals... a herculean task and much appreciated... truly a clever pod of people populating this site... well, to be truthful, its actually a bell curve whereupon you who 'penstanzas' are way way out on the leading edge... three cheers and three cheers more! Encore! Bravo!
Stuart McArthur - August 06, 2005 - Report this comment
thankyou TJC - to be honest I was hoping for 4 parody submissions that I could then easily link into a mini-operetta (half an hour tops) - but as you point out, the sharp right-hand edge of the bell-shaped curve swung into action and delivered, as you say again, 20 perfect parodies, so it became a matter of honour to link them into some coherent form

- but believe me, there is no backlash against lewd lyricists - it was just a plot device invented by the lewdest lyricist of them all, Johnny D, as you'll pick up in the detail of the story - thanks for the read, mate :-)

Really good start! 5's

THREE CHEERS FOR STUART MCARTHUR!!! I have read all of this amazing accomplishment start to finish this evening and I am floored! In addition to the excellent parody work by the several authors, your dialogue was funny, silly, G&S faithful and just freakin' brilliant! It took some doing to read it; I can't begin to imagine the work it must have taken to write it. I am proud to have added my own submissions to this work and I appreciate the chance to be in on it. I picked a great time to stop back in! Congratulations to Stu, Johnny and all the authors! Well done!
Stuart McArthur - August 09, 2005 - Report this comment
thanks for that, Stray Pooch - I'll say you picked a good time to return - your parody about Johnny D is a pivotal part of the opera, and brilliantly written - you obviously know your G & S too, and much better than I do, from what I can gather - and yes it IS a long read, and I appreciate you taking the time
