Egyptians: daring model for a Mid-East change, in general
The hope is vast that change will last, and isn't just ephemeral
It's spreading 'round the Arab ground; entire Med'terranean
Would love to see the next one be new leadership, Iranian

'Twas great to see on our TV events unfold, historical
A brand new deal! This thing's for real, and not just metaphorical
They made it plain: Let go of rein! Command was categorical
No one could tell: would end so well, not even Delphi oracle

We saw them cheer; hold freedom dear; flags, banners, posters: motto, views
So many there, in Tahrir Square, where dare: folks make a lot o' news
(This is one "square" that doesn't care about the da*n hypotenuse!)

They said it all, there in the Mall, they ventilated bitter rage
Word got around from town to town on Internet or Twitter™ page
For reign of pain, they showed disdain, demanded end of President
They lived their fears for thirty years, 'most each and ev'ry resident

In short, 'twas revolutional, and might be retributional
The power: devolutional; wish: new State, constitutional

It goes to show what we all know: that peaceful protest's practical
The military was so very self-restrained and tactical
The World could see the future: free; events unfold, climactical
Mubarak fled; Egyptians led change global, 'haps galactical

Could see the dread that it might spread, on Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
He tried to get Iran off 'Net; to clever hackers; thin facade
They use skill, great, to penetrate this ineffective barrier
The Internet might prove just yet: of freedom's message, carrier

Let all dictators fear their fate, or suffer for their vanity
United Nations' Declaration: rights of all humanity
Can't turn the tide; if ever tried, an act of sheer insanity

Mid-East, the place of birth of race and writing: Sumer's cuneiform
Let make, each nation, proclamation: citizens' rights, uniform
And all agree to set Man free from arbitrary autocrat
It's clear to me: that's how should be. How come they never thought o' that?

In short, dump your hypocrisy; an end to all autocracy
Replace your aristocracy with genuine democracy

It's fun to watch as ev'ry blotch on planet starts unravelin'
Why, someday soon, if not the Moon, whole globe, be safely travelin'
As old way dies, regimes arise that recognize the worth of peace
What happens then? Goodwill to men, and finally, an Earth of peace

Could come the day we'll put away our gunnery and missile tools
Make power, clean, not war machine, from fabricating fissile fuels
Why, Egypt may have led the way for all to drop the ball and chain
To all of those who still oppose: soon fall; can't stop or stall the train

'Twould be so sweet: a global treat-y: peace, that all would ratify
"Created equal": Great words! Sequel: no more, classes, stratify
And once begun, can't be undone: Man's thirst for freedom, gratify

Egyptian scene was seen as keen; they're plucky and adventury
Just ten years in, but might have been the big event of century
They fought for right all day and night, yet none showed signs of tiring
These plain ol' folk: revolt, provoke; uplifting and inspiring

In short, and not a platitude: admiring their attitude
For gaining greater latitude, Egyptians earn World's gratitude
