Song Parodies -> "None for Marriage"

Original Song Title:

"Love and Marriage"

Original Performer:

Frank Sinatra

Parody Song Title:

"None for Marriage"

Parody Written by:

John A. Barry

The Lyrics

None for marriage, shun your marriage,
because girl-girl/boy-boy I disparage.
By it I’m so bothered
that the law of the land I’ve smothered.

None for marriage, done-for marriage. . .
don’t care if it’s a justice miscarriage.
I serve as god’s sentry—
now even straights will not get entry.

I, I, I administrate from
Bible’s effusions.
Why, why, why did the Justices come
to their conclusions?

None for marriage, done with marriage. . .
they’ll have to cart me off in a carriage
kind of like a tumbrel,
till empty head’s symbolic tumble.

Well done Mr. Barry, you successfully angered both Christians and Gays. You deserve all the ones you get. Btw, you aren't as good a parodist as you think. People are fed up with your outdated style and lame lyrics. Most of what you put out now is rubbish and the lower ratings prove it.

A nice, topical parody about an actual person caught in the eternal conflict between what's right, and what some anti-American and anti-Christian judges concocted in their warped minds. The Supreme Court can't be the final word on anything. The people are supposed to be in charge. We need to bring back the ancient and honorable practice of impeachment. I don't use the number system, but this is a good parody regardless of one's opinion of the subject in question.

Have to agree with Patrick that you did a great job in bringing forward this human drama in a topical manner. A dictionary was necessary in only a single instance, and I am now educated on the meaning of "tumbrel". As an outsider on such earthly matters, it amazes me to discover that some individuals claim that they can decide better than a panel of SCourtjudges on the optimal way to support the constitution and broad individual rights on an intricate issue like this, and that a majority of citizens would easily agree with them! Even rating a parody may entail too many complexities, so in this case i will join with our colleague P., and abstain.

The deceased doc and Patrick agree on only one thing: the parody's topic is worthwhile and the parody was pretty-well executed. That is my opinion, too. However, Giorgio agrees with JAB (and me) and disagrees with Patrick in the matter of the Kentucky clerk being in contempt of secular law. Secular law must trump religious belief, practice and "conscience." Look what shariah has wrought abroad. We are not ruled by the religious beliefs of individuals, and they are certainly not victimized here. Let them do their holy rolling on their side of the wall separating Church and State. Moreover, Giorgio, only a SMALL MINORITY agrees with the four-times married clerk.
Patrick's view is simply astounding. The members of the judiciary who put their imprimatur on legalizing and enforcing same-sex marriage are "anti-American and anti-Christian" with "warped minds." Brilliant analysis, Patrick! If ever there was a civil right so quickly, eagerly, and overwhelming accepted by "the people," it is this one. I once was against same-sex marriage. Like Obama, I found it difficult to toss out the customary heterosexual connotation but, like Obama, I finally realized that it threatened nobody but religious fanatics. Indeed, the more we can promote the commitment of one individual to love and cherish another individual, the better off we'll all be.
I give this 4-5-5 and I hope that confounds all the anti-Americans who 1-bombed it.
