The Lyrics

The US Energy Secretary testified before the House Energy and Commerce Committee on November 17, where he denied knowing details of how the loan to a bankrupt solar-panel maker was given due diligence. My parody based on TOS is my guess at what the President thinks as some light is shed into one dark corner of his opaque administration.
Once I had a secret gov
That lived in Washington, D.C.
All too soon my secret gov
Became obsessed with energy.

So I told ascending czar,
The famous "earther" Steven Chu,
Trust now wonderful so-lar;
The Chinese subsidize it too.

Shut oil out, nix pipeline by Sand Hills. [1]
Leave on hold the Gulf Coast's raft of drills.
At last, high fossil prices soar,
And I speak yet how I'm seeking jobs for more.

Congress called unbending czar, [2]
To say that dream he'd often rue,
Just how blunderful Chu's war, [3]
And high crime So-lyn-dra review. [4]

Now I'll tout wind with my lying skills,
Then unfold some golden half-a-bill$.
Alas! I smart like open sore,
'Cause my secret gov's not secret anymore.
[1] The proposed XL Pipeline route nicks the northeast corner of Nebraska and the Ogallala Aquifer that extends into West Texas.
[2] He made no apology nor promise to be more careful.
[3] My term for his suppression of domestic hydrocarbon energy sources.
[4] Based on statements by some committee members who seek his resignation.

Love it, Barry. "Blunderful" -- great new word. I must remember that one. How many people believe Chu's statement that it was he who gave the go-ahead on this deal, that it went no higher? Sounds to me like a flunky dutifully falling (or attempting to fall) on his own sword. So far I've seen no blood -- I'm not impressed.

BJM - Energetic! And...one of the few OS I know today. As for my score, I'll decide after the election. ;D

DM: Thanks; "Blunderbuss" (a short-barreled shotgun) had the same accuracy as the DOE's grantee-selection process. The assertion that Solyndra is an isolated failure gives new meaning to (Obama's) national motto, "E pluribus, unum."
OMR: Thanks; you mean you're one of the few who remembers TOS. The extent of your OS repertoire for parodies always amazes me.
