The Lyrics

This is my imagined narrative from a vacationer on Patong Beach of Phuket Island, Thailand, during the giant tsunami that struck without warning and also devastated Sumatra's Aceh province and much of Southeast Asia on the morning of December 26, 2004.
'Twas the day after Christmas, and out in the ocean,
The deep sea floor was stirring, and set into motion
Great rocking that flung high waves, brimming with foam
And slopes that faint surfing nuts soon could ski home.

The children were nestled, still huggin' their teds;
While risen, their parents, numb, pranced in bare threads.
And my wife in bikini and I in bright wrap
Had just arrived beachfront for a sun-squinter's nap.

When on the horizon there rose such a swelling,
We sprang from our stead to flee back to our dwelling.
Away to the timeshare we flew like a flash;
Floor sloped in the shuddering, skewering crash --
Like 'soon from the west that could spew, squall and blow
With a bluster that did sway all objects below.

Then what to my wondering eyes should appear
But more fearsome waves stacking from far out to near.
As befits spill survivors, we strived to be quick;
I knew floating timber splits just like night stick.

More rapid than beagles those combers they came,
And I bristled and shouted, "Will e'er be the same?"
They dashed, stirred and answered, "No chance, sir; we're mixin'
Sea's vomit with goop from out yonder, and blitzin'
To the top of the porch, to the top of the wall;
Now mash away, smash away, trash away haul!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
Flotsam met with each obstacle, soon was piled high.
Then down from the rooftops flood waters withdrew.
'Twas a day full of noise, then faint silence anew.

Unlike the original author, I could tell the story in a mere 28 lines.

Change "arrived beachfront" to "settled in vain" to fit the OP better; but DO NOT change "sun" to "thong". Oops, I omitted my middle initial.

Parodies about tragedies are the hardest to pull off. You really earned your 5-5-5 this time. ;D
