Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

I met a stray cat girl, sexy and seventy
Found in a nursing home built for the elderly
The young and dumb might think she's over the hill
But she can still rock if she takes all her pills
Some say that osteoporosis takes it's toll
But even with a bone to pick this old girl still got soul

Go go
Go Granny go
Go
Go Granny go
Go
Go Granny go
Go
Go Granny go
Go
Granny B. Goode

She's keeping with her past, cuts loose, the Charleston jig
She's with the times, shaved a mohawk in her wig
Oh, she's charming older men flashing her foxy grin
They all need a refill on their oxygen
She can rock their world, though her hair is gray
Oh my this fly December girl can play

Go go
Go Granny go
Go
Go Granny go
Go
Go Granny go
Go
Go Granny go
Go
Granny B. Goode

She's ninety but she'll still make you feel like a man
She'll make you wear your diapers, lose that old bedpan
Stalkers with their walkers they come to find
Adventure for their dentures it's the tie that binds
She looks sexy in those support hose tights
You'll yell, "Granny, you go, tonight!"

Go go
Go Granny go
Go
Go Granny go
Go
Go Granny go
Go
Go Granny go
Go
Granny B. Goode

I'm losing this round... dammit. What can I say except for excellent. My highlight was:
"Stalkers with their walkers"
finding
"Adventure for their dentures"

Matthias - April 23, 2009 - Report this comment
Much better than "Minesweeper" for Danger! This was great I especially liked the line "shaved a mohawk in her wig" just because picturing that in my mind was hilarious!!!
Arwen - April 23, 2009 - Report this comment
So funny, Jeff...excellent job and LOTS of laughs! I love how she ages 20 years from the first verse to the third; in spite of my personal track record, I DO prefer a long term relationship. ; )
Claude Prez - April 23, 2009 - Report this comment
Loved the Stray Cats ref in line 1 but the whole thing was great; well done.
littleCupCakes - April 23, 2009 - Report this comment
Lord Jeffrey, loved the "stalkers with their walkers' line! great fun here.
Andria - April 24, 2009 - Report this comment
I can't believe I missed this parody from the April 23 parody entries. Very funny parody, and this takes the "cougar" and/or "MILF" concepts way over the line... but in a good way. 5s.

Hey Jeff! It's Matthias! Your friend Matthias Stove! You know that "old" parody you're looking for? Well... Listen to this!!! (I'm glad that I'm not the only one who hit up the hit 50's songs of Back To The Future for this round, lol)

(Ages) Good, fun stuff, but I thought some of your pacing was rough. (Hey, that rhymes!) 4-5-5.
bobpiecheese - May 06, 2009 - Report this comment
(Ages2) I'm not seeing a 'lifestyle' in here...it maybe 'likes the older ladies' but that just squicks me out something awful. 555, I guess...*shudders*
Jeff Reuben - May 06, 2009 - Report this comment
Wow, conq, sorry you think that...I did a google search on "senior lifestyles" and came up with 41 million google hits. I really don't know what else I can do to fit a subject. Melanie: Thanks...I'm going to have to be recording these before submitting...aside from singing along to get the exact number of syllables for the pacing, I do try to make sure it works when recorded in my head, although I can't expect anyone reading to hear what I hear in my head. Have to get a recording up for SOTM :) I'm more flexible on the pacing since it can usually be made to work when recorded (for example, most of Weird Al's songs would get a 3 or 4 in "pacing" if strictly read versus the OS, but he seems to do pretty well with the recordings). Then again, this is a writing contest, so if I don't provide my own recording, I can't expect readers to know where I see the syllables stressed.

Oh Jeff, I know how you and I feel about pacing, I saw this as a potential Jeff classic. The idea of older ladies of this nature are freaky to me, but in a hilarious OMG kind of way (yes I did say OMG, which is a lifestyle all its own) very funny Jeff.
Arwen - May 06, 2009 - Report this comment
AGES...still love this, Jeff...and a GREAT lifestyle to dedicate your brilliance to. =) Can't wait to hear you sing it!
Jeff Reuben - May 06, 2009 - Report this comment
Thanks Dave, Arwen. I'm okay with the pacing comments, I just felt the need to explain where I'm coming from.
Invisible Boy - May 06, 2009 - Report this comment
I have no pacing issues with this at all. When lyrics fly by at this pace, it's easy to add or subtract a syllable here or there and still make it fit the OS.
Big time funny here, Jeff. I love slamming "old folks"...more so as I approach with each year becoming one of them...

(ABC-5G)

This was an "Ages" comp. entry? How appropriate. It sort of creeps me out like most of tthe other commenters have expresssed, but still I find it most hilaroius. Fine write here Jeff.

SOTM - As I wrote earlier, this Geriatrically Rules!!

SOTM...Already voted 555 above...lots of good senior jokes here!!!
Claude Prez - May 18, 2009 - Report this comment
Even better the second time. Am I really the first to mention the "foxy grin/ oxygen" rhyme? AND the "Oh my this fly December girl can play" line? Must be TMGLTM.
Agrimorfee - May 18, 2009 - Report this comment
(ABC) I've seen your senior moment, and it was worth reading twice. Pace was iffy in the second verse, but not enought to vote down from IMHO. Just all out comedy, which is almost required for a tune with this breakneck tempo. Great, Jeff!

(ABC) That December girl must be approaching Boxing Day by now Jeff - loved adventures with her dentures - lampooning old people is a whole genre at amiright and what a proud addition to that - 555

Even still more better the third time; great stuff Jeff.
Red Ant - May 28, 2009 - Report this comment
Very funny and impressive parody, made all the more so because you took a practically useless and repetitive orignal chorus and made it work. I'l second Claude's second comment, as well mention the "stalkers/walkers" and "adventure/denture" bonus rhymes as being favorites. "But even with a bone to pick..." *groan*
