"Thanks for the Misery"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Thanks for the misery
The massive bailout plan; troops: Afghanistan
For Neighbor Bob who lost his job and now lives in a van
How lucky we are!

Thanks for the magazines
The "People" photo shoots, (new puppy sure is cute)
Michelle on "Elle" and "O" and "Vogue", and "Time" and "Life" to boot!
How over-exposed!

You, MSN-BC feted
Reporters wore your campaign buttons
And then, CNN: 'Bama gluttons
The "free press"? Gone. And so you won

Land sakes! Now “Obamacare”
3 trillion: not a hint of debt management
There’ll be no hope for tax relief, ‘cause ev’ry dollar’s spent!
Sir, thank you so much.

Thanks for the “unity”
For Rahm Emanuel, those arms he twists so well
Pelosi and her cronies, and the snake oil that they sell
How slipp’ry they are

Thanks for the ridicule
The low bows in Japan, Hatred from Iran
For U.S., make apologies; accede to world’s demands
How P.C. it is!

You promised "change to believe in"
But that was a lie; just deceivin'
Who said, "You can't fool all the people"?
You won our trust as we go bust

So, thanks for embarrassing:
Let's not forget the bow: Saud' King: now, kowtow
Did State Department Protocol not teach you anything?
Budget full of debt; you ... cheerfully bow to that, too
One more bow: Bow *out*!

There's nothing the Congress or President can do to put this country back on the right track. Unfortunately, they are going to insist on doing "something". California is not ordinarily the source of good ideas, but they do have something the federal government could use: a recall mechanism for broken politicians.

At least Bob "Hope" wasn't a fraud! Prepare yourselves for a barrage of ones and abuse from you-know-who! ;D

It is getting pretty embarassing, a regular "Obamanation". Hope things can get better.... LOL and clever parody.

Great apt n' arch parody you guys... but, what--with those two economic meltdown numbers of yours yesterday, are you trying to get us ready for The Great Depression, Part Deux? Thanks for getting us back on the Golden Oldie Standard!

Y'see guys...as clever and well-written as this parody is...I kinda want Obama to succeed. So I'll hold off voting, but I admire your skillz.

Great parody, sad statement for our government. They wanted change but no one said what kind. You two can even make me giggle over this mess HE'S gotten us into.

Patrick: I like to think that most Americans are intelligent and resourceful enough to work out our issues by ourselves, without the government's "help". Obviously, there are those who disagree, else we wouldn't be where we are. Thanks for v/c. :)

OMR: Braced, ready, and unapologetic! ;) Thanks for v/c.

Mark S.: Thanks-- we "Hope" so too! :)

TJC: LOL @ "Golden Oldie Standard" :) Much appreciative of your kind words, as always. :)

Kristof: Believe me when I say I'd like to see him succeed as well. I have to live here! I harbor no malice, just misgivings. Thanks for reading/commenting. :)

seweweno: Next time, we should all be more specific, shouldn't we? :) Glad you got a giggle. Laughing matters!

BJ21: Hehehe... you are just King Punmeister of late. Must be hitting the eggnog... ;) thanks for v/c!

Sad but true - we taxpayers just took another beating from the Citgroup guys too - Govt. didn't even know enough to sell their stock back at a profit on their bailout.

Can;t top FG's replied to Patrick, Old Man Ribber, and Mark Scotti (the hare-m is rapidly passing the tortoise, lol); can only echo the thanks!

TJC: Sadly, I can come to no other conclusion (seriously). Remember when I told ya to buy gold while it was still below $1000/oz? :-( ... Echo LOL at "Golden Oldie";; now if we could only get the Gov and the Dollar back on the "Oldie Golden" standard.... thanks for v/c!

Kristof Robertson: To reiterate what FG said, *we are not Rush Limbaugh". ;) I didn't vote for him, but he won, so I too wished that he would succeed, despite misgivings, because I live here, too. But we calls 'em as we sees 'em, and what we sees so far ain't been good. If he'd come to his senses, I'd gladly retract the "bow out" and invite him to stay. This is just our assessment of what's happened so far. Thanks for read and comment.

seweweno: To be fair (Are you still reading, Kristof?), he *did* inherit a good bit of it. But he hasn't done anything to fix any of it, but rather seems to be making it worse. As per yesterday's econo-epic, (no v/c there, eh? lol) a lot of these problems trace back almost a century. But yeah, he raised expectations and then did the opposite. Glad you laughed! .. thanks for v/c.

blackjack21: It's great to be in such good "company" here. :-D thanks!

Timmy1k: Won't be the last beating, we assure you... :-( ..."Government" and "profit" are oxymoronic.... which is why less of the former would lead to more of the latter, for all of us. Thanks for v/c!

The authors certainly wished he'd succeed, as you did, but -- he didn't. Reality wins; we lose. Cheers anyway.
