The Lyrics

When we were dating, my nickname for my girlfriend (now wife) was Mexicali Rose, from Bing Crosby's song. I sang the song to her just before I left for college. Now my wife is 15 months older than me, so when she turned 40 and I was only 38, I had to take advantage of the situation. Hence this parody was born. (I had to take some license with one pronounciation--please excuse me.)
Mexicali Rose, stop crying.
I'll be 40 too one of these days.
Everyday you know we both grow older.
You had a jump on me but that's okay.
Dry those big brown eyes and smile, Dear.
Blow out 40 candles; please don't faint.
You want to turn back time to 30,
But, Mexicali Rose, you "cain't".
