Original Song Title:

"America (from West Side Story)"

Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"Ah-mare-ree-ka"

Parody Written by:

John A. Barry

The Lyrics

From "East Reich Story," my unfinished parody of "West Side Story."
Ah-mare-ree-kah

ARNOLD
California,
My heart's devotion.
Hope it don't sink in the ocean.
Despite the tales of gang blowing,
Still my reputation growing.
And the money owing
From my committees streaming
Funds out for venal scheming.
I like the 70s--cattin'--
Smoked on my pipe
And put khat in!

CHORUS
I like to be in America,
Okay by me in America,
Everything free in America,
For a large fee in America.

ARNOLD
Buying on credit is so nice,
Today's kids will have to pay twice.
I'll have my own "washing machine"--
That's how I keep laundered money clean

Thigh-scrapers bloom in America,
Hummers, they zoom in America,
Industry boom in America,
In the back room in America.

Lots of new housing with less space;
Lots must be smaller to keep pace.
I speak just like a dumb peasant--
Davis made fun of my accent.

Wife can be slight in America;
Food she must fight in America.
Life is all right in America,
With good sound bites in America.

Here you are free and you have pride,
Long as you stay on the "right" side.
Free to be anything you choose--
Be governor and have no clues

ANTICHORUS
Organized crime in America:
RNC slime in America;
They should do time in America.
Jetzt ist sein heim in America [Now his home is in America]

We wish he'd go back to Graz; he
Is nasty...reveres THE Nazi.
Many here would give great big cheer--
It is a damn shame he moved here.

Clever!

Thanks, JD. There would have been another, "I Feel Titty," but censoriousness was the order of the day.

If you wrote "I Feel Titty" from, say, the point of view of Maria enjoying the results of her breast-enlargement surgery without having any sexual contact or sexual fantasies involving anybody, I think that would pass the censor.

It was about the "Gropenator." Maybe the misogynistic tone, expressed by the groper, iced it, but I think it was the title.

nice job on this one....5s...boy, is it ever embarrassing to admit that your state's governor is ah-nold...
Gray Davis - July 29, 2004 - Report this comment
Too right, too right, Ahnold is too far right So right that he's all wrong for the state; Not bright, not bright -- Ahnold is just not bright Now we see, but by now, it's too late! Too late to have a new election And this state's misdirection Is quite a sorry sight Go soon, you blight -- What once was Gray is now black as night: Too right!

Um, oh yeah: I'm Gray Davis, and I approve of this parody.
(I mean John A. Barry's, not my hackjob)
