Sounds like a blimmin' good New Year to me! Some inspired parodying for an OS that sounds like the sort of thing that men only attempt on Karaoke when they're really, REALLY drunk, and some clever sub twists too. 555!

Unexpected happy ending was kind of interesting. You might have been recovering from the party when you wrote this , seeing so many shifts in present and past tense.

(Artistry) Agri's right about the tense-shifting, but I enjoyed the happy ending, but at least you had a more eventful NYE than I did, which was more of a "oh yeah, it's 2012 tomorrow...eh" kinda thing. Never seen How I Met Your Mother, but this was still very enjoyable, 555!
