Freshmen

When I came here I brought everything
I had plans to make my dorm room look so nice
Now I can’t find my textbooks-
Too much junk on the floor
Should have listened to my parents’ advice

I can’t be held responsible
Not ready for this rat race

Why’d I leave home in the first place

For the life of me I cannot remember
What made us think that we were wise-
College life’s a big surprise

My best friend took a seven-thirty class—
Said it was better
He stayed up to study and then he overslept
Now he’s guilt stricken sobbing by the President’s door
Wants to change his major ‘cause he just feels so inept
