The Lyrics

I meant to write this for artstry last month, but only had a title, here's a whole song!
Give to em Rodney,uh-huh uh-huh
Give to em Rodney,uh-huh uh-huh
Give to em Rodney,uh-huh uh-huh
Everybody says he's pretty young for an old guy
Uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, cinco, seis.

For old people it's hard just to get alot today
Our subject isnt young
But he acts it anyways.
He's seventy-two
But he sure has lots of style
While his friends don't know jack
He just thinks they're in denial

He stays up late
He eats off plates
Doesn't have to get up at 3 to urinate
Has solid meals
His skin don't peel.
Goes no slow pace
Half wrinkly face
When watches new dirty films he doesn't faint
Applesauce to him is just something his wife makes
When Matlock doesn't please
He'll go and watch The Office thing

Give to em Rodney,uh-huh uh-huh
Give to em Rodney,uh-huh uh-huh
Give to em Rodney,uh-huh uh-huh
Everybody says he's pretty young for an old guy

He still does love prunes
Listens to some new music
He's got a great taste too
Cause he thinks that James Blunt bites
He's cruisin' in a Hummer
In his friends face he'll laugh
He sees old their cars
And wants to kick their ass!

He's doin' great
Kid's forty-eight
His grandson's a teen, and they both think that he's crazed
He's not a man of steel
But keeps it real
Acts old no way, acts old no way
To him the Pacemakers are just a 60s band.
Only old guy that teenagers he can stand
He eats at Applebee's.
But he won't do the Soulja thing!

He doesn't have tattoo.
Cause on him that'd look gross
They think he's like 30,
Cause he just acts so damn young
Viagra and Enzyte make him hard
He's still has a great hip.
He could just grind
It's gross when he skinny dips

Give to em Rodney,uh-huh uh-huh
Give to em Rodney,uh-huh uh-huh
Give to em Rodney,uh-huh uh-huh
Everybody says he's pretty young for an old guy
.

Had lots of dates
But one mate
He does live in Florida , that's his favorite state
He wouldn't steal
He's made some deals
In Sunshine state, he resides, eh
He's doesn;t get irate, spicy foods constipates
One time I think I saw him piss a lake
Sometimes on dancing scenes
He once was a sex machine
Not hooked to oxygen machine
And (Hey! Hey!) do that Rodney thing.

"Ol Rodney" sounds like quite a guy...being a little over 21 myself, I can relate.....favorite line "To him The Pacemakers are just a sixties band"...excellent job
Invisible Boy - March 05, 2008 - Report this comment
They say 60 is the new 40. "Pacemakers" was my fav line as well. Great job.

Sir Jack, 555 for this "old Fart ' parody which reads so well and it quite cute! Love all your references to the 60's! With the old car shows coming in Spring, I'll be flirting with a few of these ~Silver Foxes~ myself!

(ABC4P) A Youtube ref would have helped - not everyone knows this OS. I went the extra yard and pulled the OS up. Must admit it is well written and follows the OS extremely well and you captured the essence of the man well. I am assuming that you are writing about Dangerfield here - RIP

http://www.deadoraliveinfo.com/dead.nsf/dnames-nf/Dangerfield+Rodney

A fine tribute but he's no longer an old guy.
Matthias - March 28, 2008 - Report this comment
Man... I didn't catch the Dangerfield idiom until Guy mentioned it, but from reading the parody it did seem like you were talking about him. There's a few rhyming issues in this one Jack, but other than that this was a pretty solid parody, and a pretty good idea.

Guy: I wasnt even thinking about him, I love him in Caddyshack, Easy Money, Back to School and Meet Wally Sparks, he was hilarious, and thanks!
Matthias: Thanks, yeah I guess it could be about him, except make him 14 years older, thanks this was one of my many ideas for this song.

Thank you for posting this on the badave Pimp Your Parody section Jack, very funny.

It's hard to make a parody of an already funny song, but you did this quite well, Jack. Minor gripes first (man I'm get crotchety in my old age): the (mis)rhyme couplets of "music/bites" and "gross/young" really stick out and not in a good way. That aside, very funny, and my favorite lines were the aformentioned "pacemaker" one as well as "Applesauce to him is just something his wife makes". 555.
Agrimorfee - April 08, 2008 - Report this comment
(ABC) Yeah, minor quibbles abound about rhyme schemes and grammar, still a funny tune.
Jason - April 09, 2008 - Report this comment
(SOTM) This is really good. Well done
bobpiecheese - April 10, 2008 - Report this comment
(ABC4) One of your better ones, Jack. Just a few rhyme and grammar quibbles, and the first verse borrowed a tad too much from the OS.
Max Power - April 14, 2008 - Report this comment
That's viagra for you.

LOL A gerry-hat-trick of 5s for you.. Very nice story-line.
stuart mcarthur - April 16, 2008 - Report this comment
(ABC4) wow, that's taking randomness to a whole new level, jack - some of your ideas there were wait out of left field - unless the Rodney of course is a famous one I hadn't cottoned on to (Dangerfield?) - but it didn't matter - the randomness made it funnier - 555
Below Average Dave - April 16, 2008 - Report this comment
(ABC) I think this was pretty good, though I wish the rhyming was a little tighter. I love random, (Subliminal Danger, Terrorist Penguins and Tire Munchers) so this fit well, getting better.
Invisible Boy - April 16, 2008 - Report this comment
Still love it...see above

"Doesn't have to get up at 3 to urinate" - Ehhh... I've been doing that since I was nine, boy do I feel old!
Matthias - April 19, 2008 - Report this comment
As Jack said one of the hardest parts of parodying Offspring is that a lot of their songs are already pretty sarcastic and funny, so it takes a lot to out-funny a funny band (It would be murder to try to do that with Bloodhound Gang, and Weird Al). This was pretty good, it needs a bit of help when it comes to grammar (Like I should talk), and pacing, but it's a great idea!
Agrimorfee - April 25, 2008 - Report this comment
(SOTM) I feel a little senile...didn't I read this already?---oh yeah!
Red Ant - April 25, 2008 - Report this comment
(SOTm) Still great Jack. An observation on my part if I may: IMHO, entering a parody into SOTM that has been in a recent contest is not the best of things. Reason being that, while this is funny, I read it less than three weeks ago (and the day it was posted though I forgot to comment then), so some of the humor is gone from having seen it three times now in such a short time span.
Guy - April 27, 2008 - Report this comment
(SOTM Mar08) Jack see my above comments - Boy for not being about Dangerfield it sure missed a good chance to be. Re-read the parody and still love it.

Fun to re-visit. Still enjoyable.
Phil Alexander - April 28, 2008 - Report this comment
Not sure exactly why, but this didn't really do it for me: technically competent, but didn't make me grin, let alone laugh. Maybe I'm too old...

SOTM- Well I hope I'm like this Rodney guy when I get older. Good work, Jack.
McKludge - April 30, 2008 - Report this comment
SOTM - Some pretty random rhyming here, like "One time I think I saw him piss a lake," it kind of interrupts the flow.
