The Lyrics

NOT based on a true story. For Decathlon 2.0
Have you ever sat by the Christmas tree
Amidst the paper that you ripped
And the pressies that you got were horrible
So bad that that you felt gipped?

I never wanted these face paints, I asked for a new skateboard
Back-issues of albums by Staind
Makes me wonder if you ever knew just what I like?
Seems to me you don't know yet, and here I hold the valid proof:
These bad presents that I get

Have you ever got a toy from some moron
And it is one that you possess?
But you just dunno how to deal with that Tom
Which weapon would you think work best?

I said I wanted Bumblebee, not this useless Deluxe Brawl
You owe me an apology
'Cause you said you thought that I was actually a girl
That just shows you are quite thick, backing up my valid proof:
These bad presents that I get

I'm not ungrateful, I am just in a bad mood
I'd like to think that these gifts were just mistakes
But one more mistake, I think I'll go just a little nuts
Might be ungrateful, but it's not without a good reason

Christmas should be lots of fun, not a total waste of time
Don't want another Deep Impact*
It makes me wonder if you ever knew just what I like?
The same goes for my two brothers, and we have here the valid proof:
These bad presents that we get

Never asked for a colouring-in book
Better get off your fat ass
And find out what it is I want
It makes me wonder if you

Ever thought to, find it all out before?
'Cause it's getting rather old
Ev'ry Christmas I'll get proof
Of the bad presents that I get
*Just a little Homestar allusion there

Cute Christmas Parody TCOP!

Been there on the bad Xmas gift line. It's not easy to stagger the sentence structure the way you did in the chorus, so extra kudos there.

I got kinda lost in some of the stanzas, but that's probably because the stanzas are just pretty fast. This was one of your best parodies in a long while, hopefully you've got your game face on once again, because other than me getting lost the lyrics were hilarious. And although I would also have liked some more obscure and utterly worthless presents to make it even funnier, the Homestar reference was inspired. I love Homestar Runner!

(dec2.5)reads really well against the OS, bobpie, and I agree with Matthias - one of your best parodies so far, fit-wise, and I really liked the idea too - 555

Decathlon...I'm a big fan of the OS, and I thought this was great fun, BPC. I think we've all been there, too!

DEC- I can relate very well to this one. I've had many a Christmas where I've gotten gifts that made me think someone switched the tags. Very funny and well done, Conqueror.

Strangely enough, I can't really relate to the feeling of not having got good presents.. must be 'cause my expectations were that much lower ;-)

(DEC 2.5) Really, really good, bobpie! Great execution, a cute idea with lots of whiney humour. 555+

(DEC2) Laughing at Phil's comment! I can relate Phil, except I think for me it's just I never really asked for specifics, gift cards are wonderful. . .anyway, um, one question, why'd somebody think you were a girl? These OS's were like my favorite songs of the 90s, they are so odd and fun, and dang, I am a fan of Ska.

Nothing wrong with facepaints, unless it's permanent, in which case I hope you picked your favorite team :) Well done!

Taking a re-read I found out that the stanzas do match up to the original song, your layout just confused me, but anyways I like this one better now after I re-read it.

I know we hate to badmouth Christmas, but you wrote the feelings of a lot of people!

I love the OS and you did a great job with it. Last December I only asked for one thing and I didn't get it either.
