Chum must be thrown on water to start
a feeding frenzy among the hungry sharks,
which have at least as much stamina
as schools of resourceful, remorseless piranhas.

that must be shed
from buckets so they’ll come;
else they’ll have fled.

Chum triggers trains of thoughts in brains.
It stimulates hunger in sharks…to you, a smelly bane.
Makes you wish you were back on land,
’cause chum pong goes deep into nostrils, then expands.

That lumpy chum to sharks is fed.
That chum’s got funk that’s stunk
up those who shed
it over the water, a job they can’t love.
“Chum this!” said Roy* as he gave the stuff a shove
overboard, then “Bruce” came up to feed—
in the end, Quint was whom he’d eat.

He’s chum, he’s chum
for Bruce, who fed
on grumpy chump, destumped…turned water red.

Does this chump merely play dead? That’s a “no.”.
Is Roy chum to be fated? That’s a “no.”
Is Bruce sunk and abated. That is so.
With Quint chum Bruce was baited….
