"Thunderball"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

The chances of winning the lottery are significantly increased if you play Thunderball...(apparently)...
Tonight was gonna be the night
Where I won a million or two
By now I shoulda somehow
Realised just to play a few
I blow my money on the lot'ry
And only match a few
About time now...

I'm beat, a winner on my street
And my passion in the game is out
I'm sure they've won it once before
And they won a pretty large amount
I can't believe that anybody
Wins the bugger twice, and I win nout

And all the cash i've spent tonight is burning
It's down the drain, i've spent more than i'm earning
There are many ways in which to win a million pounds
Might just try them out...

You play daily
Match numbers between one and eighty
You'll win it all
Match the thunderball

Today was gonna be my day
But it hasn't yet drawn 32
By now I really should know
Not to bet it all on the blues
I'm never matching any numbers
I feel like i've been robbed
Of twenty pounds

And all the balls that win the cash are rolling
The tension in my sitting room is growing
There are many ways that I
Can match at least three balls
And I must win now

I've gone crazy
I'm waiting for the balls to save me
That lucky ball
I could win it all

I said maybe
Tonight I might have cash for saving
I've blown it all
By playing Thunderball

I said baby
I know you think i've gone quite crazy
The ball's the only thing that saves me
I haven't won a thing in ages

DAK...this is superb! I don't play the Lottery...my ongoing crack habit keeps me poor enough as it is.;-) 555

Thanx very much, Kristof. Looks like i've been hit by the mystery 555-giver AGAIN - Not that i'm complaining! ; )

Nicely done, DAK! I stopped playing the lottery here but, I'm amazed at the number of really old people I see spending a lot of money on it. I mean, some of them look like it's their pension money they're throwing away. 555

Excellent stuff, DAK - I'm another who don't play the lottery (having a fairly good handle on probability maths...)

(SOTM). Glad to see that you weren’t discouraged by last month’s happenings. Overexcitement has its pros and cons but you seem to have a talent for this so calm down and stick around and you’ll do fine. As for this parody it’s quite good, one of the better takes on ”Wonderwall” that I’ve seen, so it’s on my short list so far.

Very nice job... although you seem to be inexplicably mocking my very carefully-thought-out retirement plan... No reward without risk, young man, no reward without risk...

Thank you Peter and Leo

(SOTM) Couldn't remember this one at first but found this CD in my collection. Excellent work and good OS pick for it as well.

SOTM--the difference between me and all the other pathetic losers who slowly sell off everything they own and put all of their hopes on hitting the lottery jackpot is that I'M going to win...=) Nice job here, DAK...

Arwen - lol, thank you = )

(SOTM) Liked it, but I fault it more for funniness than the pacing that other folks did. Maybe because I never heard of "Thunderball" other than the James Bond movie.
Dumb Ass Kid - July 12, 2005 - Report this comment
thunderball is one version of the national lottery (sorta like a nationwide version of bingo, except you play for millions instead of hundreds). Thanx for voting on it, even when you didn't get it : )

(SOTM) DNKOS, but I also play the lotery...it just might get me out of debt when I win :-))

(SOTM) I was hoping for a James Bond parody. Oh, well, I guess I lose. 5's

(SOTM) I've said it before, but the good thing about the lottery is you have almost exactly the same chance of winning it if you enter or if you don't, and the latter is cheaper - good idea for Wonderwall, DAK, and nice lines

Four random comments:
(1) The US version is called Powerball. I played it once, honestly tried my absolute hardest to choose the right numbers, and still didn't win a thing. So SCREW THOSE BASTARDS.
(2) I had a business school professor call lotteries "a tax on the stupid." That's one of my all-time favorite quotes.
(3) To anyone who hasn't yet heard Party Ben's "Boulevard of Broken Songs," get on the bus. It's a mashup of (mainly) "Wonderwall" and Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams"; the whole is much greater than the sum of its parts. Y'all should go get it - it's pretty easy to find online.
(4) Nice work, DAK! I especially like the burning/earning couplet and "I'm waiting for the balls to save me." Great choice of OS for the subject, too.

(SOTM) You really cracked the lottery with this gem..

SOTM.. Hey I thought this was about James Bond :) We don't have Thunderball lottery up here in Canada, but I never win on anything except for bingo anyways. Well done, DAK. 555

Darghhh, DKTOS but I was a huge fan of the couplet that ended with 'i've spent more than i'm earning'. From the free-read it seems like an impressive parody, DAK.

Since I've never heard of either thunderball, I found this one hilarious from the get go. (I was helped by the couplet "You buy daily/Match numbers between one and eighty") As a casual Oasis fan myself, I graded this four for pacing and five for the other two. Lotteries are stupid :D.

Thank you Rae, and yes, lotteries ARE stupid, aren't they : P
