The Lyrics

Richard A. Clarke has revealed yet another reason why this administration isn't effective. This song is in Richard Clarke's perspective....
Anchors have come
From distant cities
Just to hear me
Mics up to my head
Disbelieving what they're seeing
They say it must be one of the blunders
Of this great nation
And as far as we see they can offer
No explanation

Government asks
Intimate questions
Want confessions
They point guns at my head to
Kill the glory
of my story
They say I must be some kind of blunder
Fired from my station
And with all of these things they can offer
No explanation

Oooo, I believe
Fate frowned and destiny
Poured truth out onto the table
Showed us that we weren't able
Hurt when protection was lifted
Though they'll never admit it
With blood, with hatred, and with shame
It's not the way
It's time to change

Congress sees me
As a challenge
To their violence
It's over their heads now
Yes it's all true
I'll remind you
To know that all of these ignorant blunders
Are his creation
And as far as we see they can offer us
No explanation

Oooo, I believe
Fate frowned and destiny
Poured truth out onto the table
Showed us that we weren't able
Cries of their innocent mothers
How the families have suffered
Hurt when protection was lifted
Though they'll never admit it
With love, with patience, and with faith
Peace is our gain
It's time to change
It heals the pain...

MrMacphisto - DKTOS, but this is fantastic writing! "Oooo, I believe Fate frowned and destiny Poured truth out onto the table Showed us that we weren't able Cries of their innocent mothers How the families have suffered Hurt when protection was lifted Though they'll never admit it With love, with patience, and with faith Peace is our gain It's time to change It heals the pain..." I'm going to see if I can rustle up the original lyrics & come back to vote on this. I'd be betting your pace is straight-on because it just about always is, but I like to check first anyway.

MrMacPhisto - This works well with the original lyrics and tenor. Obviously not a "chuckle-chuckle/rib-tickler" Going 5's across considering the craftmanship and profundity.

Thanks Paul... You oughtta check out the original song too... Natalie Merchant has released a lot of good stuff after leaving 10,000 Maniacs...

Nevermind... I just now noticed you mentioned "tenor". It's a great song, isn't it? But yeah, check out the rest of Natalie Merchant's stuff, it's mostly really good (except for her most recent album).

MrMacphisto -thanks for the recommend, perhaps I will. You know, I was somewhat late to discover the 10K Maniacs, I happened to hear one of their songs long after they came out and liked it, bought the "Live Unplugged" album and really enjoyed it, and then found out they had already split up with Ms. Merchant going solo. Then my music buying went in an altogether different direction for a while and I pretty much forgot about her.

Really cool writing here. 5-5-5 for excellence in place of humor
