An ode to the FiveM controversy wherein a group of modders, discontented with how Rockstar is running things in their GTA Online MMO, decided to improve on the formula by coming up with their own implementation, only to be banned by the company from accessing their games and social features as they saw it as "facilitating piracy". This is how I view the issue from both sides of the table.

* Rockstar was and still is criticised for its alleged shortchanging and improper treatment of their employees. One star ratings at Glassdoor show this.
** Shark cards, which are scratch cards containing codes to ingame cash in GTA Online, are a lucrative revenue source to Take-Two/R*, hence why some view it as a lowbrow move by the company
*** Controversies involving big-label corporate-run developers are so commonplace that this may account for the rise of indie studios producing innovative content.
**** GTA is no stranger to controversy as we all know, from parents who view the series as "a menace corrupting the youth", and now with fans themselves turning on the company's pretentious and callous treatment of their community.
