The Lyrics

Election Day is coming. The Republicans are trying to buy/lie their way back into power so they can finish killing off the middle class. Think very very hard before you pull that "R" lever in the voting booth!!
Well, the bank said my retirement money’s gone,
I've worked for it all my life.
Now, I have to work again,
So do my children and my wife.

I curse those crooked liars,
and the oaths that they betray.
‘Cause the flag now stands for corruption,
The Supreme Court’s had its say.

And it sucks to be a Republican,
with their racism, guns and greed.
Hear the Fox News airwaves filled with lies
of Beck and Hannity
But I’ll gladly stand up,
protest with you; vote em’ out by November three….
‘Cause I have no doubt, they’ll ruin this land,
God damn the GOP.

From the lines of unemployment,
to the banks of A.I.G.
From the oil fields of Texas,
To the Gulf spoiled by BP.

From the tax cuts for the wealthy,
to the laws against the gay.
Well there's hate in every Republican heart,
and its time we made them pay.

And it sucks to be a Republican,
with their racism, guns and greed.
And we won’t elect the men who’d like,
to take my rights from me.
And I’ll gladly stand up,
denounce the liars; for that’s all they’ll ever be
‘Cause I have no doubt, they’ll ruin this land,
God damn the GOP.

And it sucks to be a Republican,
Soon my health care I won’t see.
And I won’t forgive the men who’ll vote…
to take that away from me.
And I’ll gladly stand up,
protest with you; vote em’ out on Election Day…..
‘Cause there ain't no doubt they’ll ruin this land,
GOD HELP the USA.

That's 1400 billion - July 26, 2010 - Report this comment
Nothing will fix this country like a 1.4 trillion dollar budget deficit. You go, dems. Keep printing that money.

Poor syllable count, and politically in denial.

Plenty of blame to go around Mr. Billion and Doc Haberdasherless. Remember the economy is a group effort where no party wants to work with another party because both party rule books state:
"We, the self-righteous, in order to ignore a helpful union, understand that compromise is failure. To adjust perspectives is failure. To acknowledge mistakes is failure. To respresent the electorate is optional."
I guess that's what you get when righteous rhetoric on both sides is so heated that brains melt and so does sense.

OK, but don't one bomb this. Follow the holy example of The Chosen One and just vote "Present". ;D

@ OMR: I vote "Present" on this, but I'll be pulling that "R" lever (symbolically) on Nov. 2. For antidotes, check out ~80s/leegreenwood13.shtml (mine) and ~80s/leegreenwood21.shtml (not mine).

Both parties suck. Go Independent!

When I first heard this song I thought it was corny but that's all. Later on when America got into an ego trip over the 1991 Gulf War against Saddam "Worst Than Hitler" Hussein the song became an oppressive stinkbomb. Later on hardly anyone I knew could look at that song without feeling a measure of disgust anymore. Just keeping up your "good work" and the little tin gods will reward you with a kick in the face! Good parody but bear in mind many Dems (like Nancy Pelosi) have promised reform and then reneged. This 2-party system sucks. Other democracies like Germany, France and Japan have several parties in their governments - meaning no 1 or 2 parties dominate, they must iron out issues, compromise, WORK together. Why can't we? The GOP has been getting more like Mussolini + friends for the past 15 years and then we've had Dumbya and Sarah Palin the Attention Whore. You said it all. Bravo.

Pacing is a bit ragged, but a nice job on our second national anthem. A pox on both their houses. If it were on the ballot I'd vote for a necktie party for the whole incumbent crew. When I was 10 years old, I could buy any glue, paint, or marker pen I wanted. Today's 10 year olds can't. I remember when I could visit Canada without having to ask the US government's permission. I could drive onto the post at Fort Leavenworth to see the museum. Not anymore. Remember when you could get a semi-effective cold remedy from a convenience store without signing a DEA hit list as a wannabe meth cook? All these freedoms and more have been taken away by the ruling class with no improvement in our safety. The democrats have just written a huge promissory note that they expect someone else to deliver on. We don't need term limits, we need recall.
