Song Parodies -> "What if God Was Don Imus"

Original Song Title:

"One of Us"

Original Performer:

Joan Osbourne

Parody Song Title:

"What if God Was Don Imus"

Parody Written by:

Tony Wiseguy

The Lyrics

Na na na na are your jokes fuzzy?
If Imus had a brain would he be funny?
Or would he have egg on his face?
If you knew that his comments were derogatory,
Would you throw up or just have indigestion?

And yeah yeah Imus Sauteed, yeah yeah Imus in da hood.
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah.

What if God was Don Imus?
Would we say in Imus we trust?
Would he heap praise on every one of us?
Or would everything be a joke?

If Imus had a heart would it be a crash site?
And would that karmic debris,
Land him in the hall of shame of bigotry?
Along with Mel, Kramer, Isiah and all the other idiots,
Still trying to save their necks.

And yeah yeah Imus flambed, yeah yeah Imus in da hood.
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah.

What if God was Don Imus?
Would we say in Imus we trust?
Would he heap praise on every one of us?
Or would everything be a joke?
A really bad tasteless joke?
Calling girls nappy headed ho's.
Bernard and him all alone.
Making prank calls on the phone.

And yeah yeah Imus sauteed, yeah yeah Imus in da hood.
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

What if God was Don Imus?
Would we say in Imus we trust?
Would he heap praise on every one of us?
Or would everything be a joke?
A really bad tasteless joke.
Calling girls nappy headed ho's.
Bernard and him all alone.
Together in a retirement home.
Making prank calls on the phone.
Tickling each others' funny bone.

Funniest Title of The Day. I don't understand your pacing for the "yeah, yeah" bridge, and I wish there were more variations on the chorus, but this was otherwise great.

Probably, life would be something straight out of Death Race 2000, as it almost is already.

You know, I think this parody was okay...but the artist doesn't spell her surname with a "U"; that's cuz she's not British. 4,4,4.

Excuse me, Mr. Critic, haven't you heard of Jeffery Osbourne, former lead singer of LTD and successful solo artist? He's not British, either. And I believe he spells his name with a 'u'. (But you're right about Joan Osborne.)

Well. . .I generally only comment on parodies by parodists who regularly comment on my own parodies, but this one deserved the attention. . .great job here. . .pacing wasn't perfect, so I couldn't max your score. . .but very good topic, and a fun way to do a song that probably was one of my favorites of the 90s

whoa, 555 for the title alone - you come up with some great title ideas Tony

Maybe I could have come up with something else for the chorus, but there isn't a lot that rhymes with US or UST and I thought what I came up was the best I could do. As far as the yeah yeah part. Imus was roasted after his comments. In a sense he was flambeed and sauteed which rhyme with great. Hey Stu, thanks for the compliment, let me know when I'm up for induction into the song parody hall of fame!

Yes I have heard of Jeffrey Osbo(u)rne. I believe Canadians also spell it like that, but Joan isn't Canadian either.
