The Lyrics

Loosing too much social life playing the Sims...
You can play Pinball or even Solitaire
You can also play with Donkey Kong
Or you can play Half-Life and go and blow some limbs
Or even smack a ball about in Pong

You can fly a jet in Flight Unlimited
You can race around in GT2
Or buy a Playstation for even more Action
And Super Mario beats Sonic too

But don't play The Sims, Don't ever play The Sims
You might just lose your social life
And if you play The Sims, the silly silly Sims
You might just lose your pretty wife

You can get a game, if it is good or lame
Or you can play Nintendo Wii consoles
Or go and play PacMan if you're his biggest fan
or play Fifa Football and score a goal

You can get a gun, if it is just for fun
Or you can play Nintendo Wii consoles
Or buy a Playstation for even more Action
And Super Mario beats Sonic too
Ooo

But don't play The Sims, Don't ever play The Sims
You might just lose your social life
And if you play The Sims, the silly silly Sims
You might just lose your pretty wife
Ooo

Don't play The Sims, Don't ever play The Sims
You might just lose your pretty wife
Ooo

Don't play The Sims, Don't ever play The Sims
You might just lose your pretty wife
Ooo

How come? I'm a Simmer, and I really enjoy doing celebrity mashups in that game (Justin Timberlake, Kate Winslet, Shirley Temple to name a few). Nice idea, though.
Lionel Mertens - January 23, 2007 - Report this comment
What are The Sims, Jason? 5's
Jason - January 23, 2007 - Report this comment
To Lionel Mertens, think of the Sims as a computerised version of Big Brother, its where you design and build your own house, add your own people (the Sims themselves) and control how they interact round the house and themselves.

I sent you a comment but it didn't get through. I liked how you picked an annoying song for an annoying game.

(SOTM) It was pretty clever. Disappointed that you repeated lines from previous choruses instead of adding another...looks like your energy level ran down.
Jason - February 12, 2007 - Report this comment
Yea it did for some reason. Thanks anyway

(SOTM) nice little ditty
LPG-Unit - February 18, 2007 - Report this comment
Yeah, and to add to Lionel's question, you aren't really confined to just a house, especially if you have an expansion pack installed, such as Vacation or Hot Date...

(SOTM) You know, I think we pretty much all went through our SIMS stages. . .but I think this was my fav line "And Super Mario beats Sonic too" since sometimes people forget that the fat plumber came out and revolutioned games before that speedy hedgehog ever existed (not that I don't like Sonic, but respect for the Italian Character who started it all) . . .at any rate. . .good parody. . .and while I have been out of the SIMS world for quite some time, I still remember those days. . .long long long days . . .like they were yesterday.

Thank you to all the above that I haven't mentioned yet.

SOTM - Sim of the Month? :-)
Phil Alexander - February 27, 2007 - Report this comment
I was a bit disappointed by the lack of internal rhymes (I know in the OS some of them are pretty dodgy, but IMO that's a reason for making them better rather than leaving 'em out altogether). Maybe if I'd ever played Sims (which seems to me to be a bit too much like a virtual soap opera), I'd have more nice things to say about this...
(but on the bright side, you have given me an idea for this tune ;-) )
Jason - February 27, 2007 - Report this comment
What exactly do you mean Phil? To me I can't see anything wrong with the rhyming in this.
Stuart McArthur - February 27, 2007 - Report this comment
(SOTM) this was a great idea jason - my kids have already lost their "lives" to Sims - although admittedly no wives yet - and it would have been even better if you hadn't repeated choruses - but good job anyway - 555

(SOTM) Could be taken as an allegory for overindulgence in any escapist fantasy ... hidden wisdom here ... well done, Jason.
Tim Mayfield - February 28, 2007 - Report this comment
(SOTM) SIMply great! Loved everything except the repeated pieces.
The Charnstar - February 28, 2007 - Report this comment
SOTM - The Wii Sims is gonna be EVEN WORSE! But no, never play WOW... That will kill you
Red Ant - February 28, 2007 - Report this comment
(SOTM) I think Phil was talking about the first two verses rhyme-wise; the third and fourth were perfect (I'd forgotten that TOS has some really strained internal rhymes)... I've only played the original SimCity, but if you want a real time sink of a game try EQ, WoW, etc. This was an improvement over the original.
Phil Alexander - February 28, 2007 - Report this comment
Red Ant's right, Jason: the AABCCB rhyme scheme runs all the way through, not just the third and fourth verses; even though in the OS, if you were to look at a lyric sheet then rhyming "friends" with "been" is easily overlooked... but Billy-Ray does :grimace:
wannabemustangjockey - March 01, 2007 - Report this comment
SOTM - I'm sadistic toward my Sims, they frequently end up dead. The ones I keep alive are funky robots and anthropomorphic animals and stuff.
Jason - March 01, 2007 - Report this comment
To Phil Alexander and Red Ant, I see what you mean about the rhyming. I'll bear this in mind for my next parody. Thanks for that.

(ABC5D)

So totally simian. The OS is perfect for the parody. My Sims family lives in Springfield, but I'm not for sure what state they live in other than dysfunction. I call them the Simsims. This parody actually works for me in some weird sort of way, but I am a bit concerned with "Wannabemustangjockey "who is sadistic with his Sims. Help is there for you, "Wannabe", just ask. ;-) Fine job with this Jason.

I am a big Sims fan. What really upset me is that every time I would install or play the game, I always have issues with viruses, lock-ups, and distorted pictures. I love The Sims 2 better though, as well as those expansion packs. But they easily take up a lot of RAM memory. Great song, Jason! 5's
Agrimorfee - April 13, 2009 - Report this comment
(ABC) See above for my same wordage.
Matthias - April 16, 2009 - Report this comment
I wish this song was more about The Sims and less about a bunch of other video games. This wasn't bad maybe a little bit of variation in the choruses, but not what I was expecting.
Claude Prez - April 16, 2009 - Report this comment
Really good idea for a parody, and like others have mentioned, it started stronger than it finished. Overall, it was pretty fun though.
Below Average Dave - April 28, 2009 - Report this comment
Again, the rhyme scheme, still a good parody by you.
Stuart McArthur - April 28, 2009 - Report this comment
(ABC) nice work Jason - I agree with what I said before - it was such a good idea that I reckon you could have spent another hour on it and made it great - but not if it means losing your pretty wife of course ;-)
bobpiecheese - April 30, 2009 - Report this comment
(ABC4) The rhyme scheme could've used some work, not a fan of the repeated choruses or the repeated verse parts, and also what Matthias said (seemed more like a list of other games instead of a genuine warning against playing the Sims for too long). Still, this was a pretty good parody, a bit more work on the concept would've made it a bit better.
Red Ant - May 01, 2009 - Report this comment
See above (it's still better than the original), and my thoughts now echo bobpiecheese's comment.
Melanie Lee - May 01, 2009 - Report this comment
(ABC) This was enjoyable and easy to follow. Watch the syllabic mismatches (accents on the wrong note or syllable). I liked the internal rhymes, but you could have used more of them. Could've used less repetition, too. This parody made me smile. 5-4-5.

This is one of your better songs, I liked how you wrote your version with the same idea of the OS.
