The Lyrics

Enough already! Prediction: Avril will last as long as Billy has, long after Britney and Christina become remembered as this era's Marie Osmond and Gloria Gaynor.
In the middle of the night, I go walkin' in my sleep
to a mountain of laughs, see some hatred so deep.
I've been looking for humor, some funny stuff that I've missed.
But I only find a girl who's been nastily dissed.

Every night I wade through all these songs
and to get 'em all read might take several years.
Bunch o' angry teenyboppers give Canadian chick
more venom and hatred than to Britney Spears!

In the middle of the night, I go walkin' in my sleep
through a valley of hate, see some hatred so deep.
I know I'm searchin' for somethin', a clue as to how it goes
why they think she's such a fraud, think her punkiness is pose.

Every night I see "Sk8er Boi" slop
but now I'm tired and I don't wanna see 'em no more.
So Avril wears a silly necktie.
At least, unlike Christina, she ain't dressed like a whore!

In the middle of the night, I go walkin' in my sleep
through the jungle of grouse, see some hatred so deep.
Avril's got her some hit songs, lots of anger she'll find
and it can only be seen by the jealousy kind
in the middle of the night.

Not sure if her second album will hit.
God knows lots o' stars get their follow-ups panned.
Even though she's a little bubblegum
at least she doesn't use a damn synthesizer band!

In the middle of the night, I go walkin' in my sleep
through the desert of applause, through the hatred so deep.
We all face a commotion of abuse that is mean.
So why don't you lay off, quit rippin' Lavigne.
Lay off Avril tonight.
Granted, lots of people didn't like Billy, thinking he was a punk poser with "Glass Houses" who should stick to lounge-act songs like "Just the Way You Are." But he responded to the "Pressure." Will Avril? I think so. Don't ask me why.

I don't deny that avril might deny my prediction in yesterdays song and still be around in a few years... but saying she'll be around as long as billy joel is going to extremes a bit, isn't it?

No way in hell Avril will last as long as Billy Joel has...the reason Billy Joel has lasted so long is because he's amazing! He is able to WRITE great music, and PLAY it, and express himself in all differnt genres, such as Singer/songwriter rock ("James", "Vienna", "Captain jack"), reggee/calipso ("Rosalinda's eyes", "I dont want to be alone anymore"), Rythem and blues ("Everybody loves you now"), punk ("Its still rock and roll to me", "Sleeping with the televison on", "You may be right"), a harder sound ("A matter of trust, "Only the good die young"), doo-wop ("The longest time", "This night"), soul/motown ("Tell her about it", "an innocent man"), as well as ballads ("Just the way you are", "this is the time", "Shes always a woman", "roberta"), instrumentals ("Mexican connection", "Root beer rag"), and plain out rock ("piano man", "all for Lenya", "movin out", Big shot", "my life", "prelude/angry young man", "we didnt start the fire"...etc etc etc)...plus so much more..if you listen to his album "an innocent man", you will see all the different varieties of music he can go through...the album wa a tribute to his influences, such as Ben E King, The four seasons, doo-wop, classical, and more.....as you can gather, I am a huge Billy Joel fan, he is by far my favorite musician of all time...

How dare you support her when she's part of why artists with unquestionable talent can't get a song in edgewise? I can't believe you have the audacity, not only to like artist I don't like, but to flaunt it like this... to practically rub my nose in it! Words hurt, buddy! Just kidding, of course. Nice job.
