The Lyrics

...unless it's for new Transformers toys, that is :P
Shopping is spastic, and it's scary
Pretty scary, shopping is spastic (x4)

I should've stayed at home (x11)

Well now, I'm in the shopping aisle
Can't find a thing, this place is too damn wild
These corridors stretch for sixteen miles
I can't run because I'll slip on the tiles
Aisles so wide, I'm scared
And ev'ry other git's got a screaming child
Asking for some candy or gummi wine
All right, I understand if they're only three - fine!
But I can't believe that Mum can't find
A little extra cash to buy some fries
Chocolate balls, bacon rinds
Some type of food, 'fore they start to cry
Or I'll take their rattle and gouge their eye
Can't take anymore, it's tearing up my mind
I'm just here 'cause I'm low on pies
Need to refill my supply

Shopping is spastic, and it's scary
Pretty scary, shopping is spastic (x2)

Other shoppers make me scream
Can't watch where they're going, make me drop my things
I should thread them to my clothes with string
But I'll get caught up, and that is messy
Gotta keep on movin', keep on movin' full steam
Can't find my choc donuts, can't find my ice cream
If I'm lucky all this might be cheap
I ain't got cash to burn on expensive cream
I can't believe that the floor ain't clean
Almost makes me want to scream
I'm just saying it needs some Sheen
It'll stop me from throwing up, see?
When it comes to shopping I am green*
Sick of children cryin', damn their cryin' routine
All their bloody yelling, it gets to me
Shopping is spastic and it's scary!

Shopping is spastic, and it's scary
Pretty scary, shopping is spastic (x2)

I shudder whenever it is time to shop
Especially shoes and even worse - socks
So on shopping I say apox!
And when nothing goes wrong I am completely shocked
You may say that I'm a slob
Oh, I'm known for achieving squat
"Sethery likes to sit on his bot"
There are times that I like to run...mmmMM NOT!
It is not the walking that turns me off
Can't find the soup, can't find the stock
Can't find anything, sometimes I get mocked
Doesn't help that all signs say "HALF OFF"
Could someone please help me, I am lost
Where's my fav'rite brand of pop?
I don't mean the genre, I mean soda pop
I forget - all the staff here know jack squat!

Shopping is spastic, and it's scary
Pretty scary, shopping is spastic (x4)

Should buy it all online (x13)
Screw it!
*'green' meaning 'new' as in greenhorn. Sheen means Mr. Sheen. Cryin' is pronounced as 'crine'. Yes my nickname is actually Sethery (it's longer than my real name, and I know that doesn't makes sense, which kinda fits, me being so weird and all).

Dang! I wanted to do an Intergalactic parody... But I don't want to compete song on song because that always makes somebody's look worse than the others... Oh well... Back to the drawing board.

TOUGH song, and you pulled it off well. Funny stuff..
Medemia - July 02, 2009 - Report this comment
Good jeoarb on this. My wife hates shopping with me because I just run through stores when she wants to browse. Go in, get the stuff, get out. If I wanted to sight see, I'd go outside, not to the mall. Anyway, enough rambling. Enjoyed. Have some 5's. Don't spend them all in one place.

I've heard TOS about 3 times, but can only recall the chorus, but the verses flowed really well, and it was funny, so 5s.

(Artistry) What's scary is how you just keep getting better and better at parody writing. Gummi wine? LOL!

(Art) This is a big improvement over the past couple rounds, dude. (rhyme pop with pop is risky, but I get it!)

Pretty epic song here Conq. I'm familiar with this song because of Weird Al's polka but I'm only familiar with the title line because that's all he sings in his polka. This was still pretty good though, and I agree with Aggy much better than the last couple rounds friend.

SOTM: I didn't think anyone could do a good parody of this song, but you managed to do it perfectly...very nice!! 555

Well this overall was good TCOP, two things I must say, with rap one thing you have to watch out for is internal and repeatitive rhyme schemes, you missed them here like in other rap oriented rounds, this one was much better than your other rap efforts, but you still need some work on those areas. The backwards planetary can be confusing to parody, I know that, I applaud you for taking it on, I personally would have parodied it as five syllables instead of four because as sang it wouldn't quite work unless you did it backwards--but I won't judge that for my ranking of this song. Your turned a Beastie Boys song that takes place in a mallish airportish setting, which made the idea funny, and despite the little gripes I mentioned, your pacing and overall comedy where air tight.

SOTM - Very tough song to do, and it was done well..

SOTM...big props for doing this OS...can't imagine how hard it was to tackle. My favorite BB song, actually...and a great job. The only time I like shopping is at Christmas. =) Oh...and on payday. And when someone else is buying.
Peter Andersson - July 31, 2009 - Report this comment
The only BB parody attempt I've tried ended after four words that didn't even rhyme with the original but I still think that "Live - Long - And Prosper!" would have made a good Star Trek parody chorus to the OS "No sleep 'til Brooklyn"... Beaming back to your parody that is to say I realise how hard this one must have been to write! :-)

Yep, see my other comment, again I applaud taking on this song, but I can't overlook the rhymes as far as how it would sound recorded. . .good job, but I think you could have made this one great with a little more time spent on it.

SOTM...chocolate balls made me laugh, but it probably wasn't in the way intended. Tough song to do.
Phil Alexander - July 31, 2009 - Report this comment
Reminds me, I had a Red Dwarf parody to this OS on the drawing board a while back.. have to see where it's got to. This is a workmanlike job on a tricky OS, but no real laughs.
EmiLoca - August 01, 2009 - Report this comment
Epic song to tackle, so immediate props for that. Pacing and overall effect were good, but I feel like you could have milked the concept a bit more. Still, a worthy effort on a tough song.

I'm entering this round of ABC, so I'm commenting this one early. Excellent title switch, tough OS choice, great theme, and overall a great parody. 555 to someone who has became a worthy contest regular!

(ABC05S)

Sounds like toxic shop syndrome. Take 5.

ABC5(S) Nice job on the pacing and rhyming on a tough OS...I've always hated shopping, so I can identify with the humor here!!!...555!!!
Stuart McArthur - October 15, 2009 - Report this comment
(ABC) wow, a challenging rhyme scheme there bobpie, but I can see why you did it - the title sub was clever and needed to be honoured - great job - 555

(ABC) Tough OS, not a bad parody, and it got really funny at the end. A $555 shopping spree!

ABC- Nice job, like my previous comment before...very funny stuff!
