Disney's highly-anticipated "Lone Ranger" reboot debuts with a very different Tonto (played by Depp) that is not the old stereotypical white man's side-kick, but a Native American equal who not only saves Reid's life but resurrects him and guides him spiritually as he assumes the identity of "The Masked Man of the Plains". Tonto is both shaman and warrior here, even a horse-whisperer to Reid's Silver! To take down Cavendish and his wicked men, Tonto advises Reid to not merely seek revenge but to focus on overcoming evil through a heart of justice for all.
